The EU really knows how to hide its light under a bushel. It has just passed the world's biggest trade deal (with Mercosur) - using a written procedure among ambassadors, making the public barely notices a huge strategic step forward for Europe. Contrast with Trump's made-for-TV signing ceremonies.

One of the enduring effects of the UK's development policy on academic research is the amount of times I read "Overseas Development Assistance" rather than "Official Development Assistance"

The EU is the world's biggest single market and the largest exporter of services, manufactured goods and double standards
I have spoken with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and our Ambassador in Caracas. The EU is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela.

The EU has repeatedly stated that Mr Maduro lacks legitimacy and has defended a peaceful transition. (1/2)

After this, the EU should absolutely proceed on the assumption that Trump meant what he said about Greenland. Nothing is off the table anymore.
I feel like I haven’t even been properly lied to about the purposes of this war

Wow, am Montag sogar?!

Just reviewing a journal manuscript in this dark Sunday evening, and in keeping with that the review form asks me to tick a box to confirm that I did not cheat myself out of this voluntary anonymous task but actually read the thing. Sign of the times etc.

Makes sense, guess it reminds you of the energy you now no longer have to spend on those things

I remember Von der Leyen calling the European Green Deal "Europe's Man on the Moon moment" back in December 2019. I suppose in her second term she skipped straight to flat-earthing
Scathing view on the first year of vdL II: "Today the only tangible result [von der Leyen] consistently produces is the dismantling of what she built in her first term—above all the Green Deal, but also Europe’s economic and digital sovereignty."

Don’t miss our brief: a new delay on the Russian assets, the Uk will not be in Safe.

BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺

We welcome the continued US efforts to bring peace to Ukraine.

The initial draft of the 28-point plan includes important elements that will be essential for a just and lasting peace.

We believe therefore that the draft is a basis which will require additional work.

AI boom needs more data centres, increased use of electricity and water

This is hardly accounted for in the EU's Apply AI strategy including the lack of strategy to tax the profits of corporations to pay for grids, pollution and extraction of water

Eindelijk een teken van medemenselijkheid!

Pijnlijk dat VVD en BBB het eerst wekenlang hebben tegengehouden. Maar maatschappelijke druk werkt.
