I guess I'm frustrated by the overall lethargy and lack of mass action (these are still a handful).. We all know that nothing is beyond Trump. The only thing that could stop this madness is organized action which should include elected representatives. Thanks for the correction though.
I would push back on that characterization. I am very critical and often of many Democrats, but I don’t think AOC is nearly the only one speaking up or acting. Rep Robin Kelly (IL) is filing to impeach Kristi Noem, and I’ve seen other support that (including my Congressman Goldman in NY). 1/2

Goldman and Rep Swalwell (CA) are planning to introduce a bill that would stripe ICE officers of qualified immunity. Others such as CT Sen Chris Murphy are pushing to restrict budget, and Rep Maxwell Frost (FL) all the way last summer pushed for legislation to make ICE more accountable.

Why aren't the Democrats pushing for a full investigation? Why aren't they staging a protest in the Senate or the House? Why aren't they speaking up (with the notable exception of AOC)?
One thing lost in the frame-by-frame analyses is the bigger picture: ICE escalated a routine, non-threatening encounter into a fatal confrontation.

For those keeping score, Bellingcat, The New York Times Visual Investigation Team, & Washington Post's Visual Forensic team have all published analysis showing the ICE shooter wasn't in the path of Renee Nicole Good’s vehicle when he shot her, contradicting statements by the President & his cronies

“If there was ever a tipping point in the dark age of fascism that engulfs America, it should be the cold-blooded murder of a young woman driving home from dropping her kid off at school.”

Trump in a single gaggle on Air Force One just threatened:

-- a second strike against Venezuela
-- Cuba

-- Iran
-- Greenland (which in turn would be an attack on the EU and Denmark)
Katie Miller, wife of White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, posted an image of Greenland covered with an American flag and the caption “SOON.”

"I firmly believe that, by the time of the party’s centenary (in 2021), China will have become a moderately prosperous society, and that by the centenary of the People’s Republic (in 2049) we will have become a modern, socialist state that is wealthy, powerful..." 𝗫𝗶 𝗝𝗶𝗻𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟮

The EU doesn’t exist anymore. I mean, it exists on paper - sterile buildings, boring commissioners and, of course, strongly-worded communiqués that no one reads (including, one suspects, the people who write them). But as a thing that does things? Gone. Diplomatic theater for a half empty room.
I have spoken with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and our Ambassador in Caracas. The EU is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela.

The EU has repeatedly stated that Mr Maduro lacks legitimacy and has defended a peaceful transition. (1/2)
decided to go smell the rotten milk in the back of the Washington Post fridge... I don't even know what to say about this

There is nothing that can stop a Chinese move on Taiwan anymore. When a rogue superpower treats international law like a menu, it doesn’t just wreck its own credibility, it licenses everyone else. Trump's unlawful conduct has handed Putin and Netanyahu a great alibi for Ukraine and Gaza.

What kind of a comment is that?

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.
Remember that there is a legitimately elected president of Venezuela: Edmundo Gonzalez. He won the election in 2024.

Matthew Goodwin learned to use Nano Banana. Just not for a good reason: "the total hypocrisy of Britain’s progressives who are flooding the NHS with doctors and nurses from overseas while rejecting young British people who want to become doctors..." (from his latest Substack post).
An absolute horrific nightmare of two AI bots caught in a loop with each other is the perfect example of the total nothingness of AI “brains”.

The national debt is higher.

The trade deficit is wider.

The inflation rate has worsened.

The unemployment rate is up.
this thread is unbelievable

Nice to see The Guardian @theguardian.com finally noticing that Matthew Goodwin is racist. Must’ve missed the memo when they ran his book promo in 2023.

To recap: Jeffrey Epstein offered a NY Times reporter photos taken in Epstein's kitchen of Donald Trump and girls in bikinis *and* implored the NYT reporter to put this information in the public discourse in 2015

What did the NY Times editors know about this offer?
