There’s the more moderate government that were there before, but they seem incapable of holding on to power without US support. The Taliban will probably do what they’ve always done - keep fighting from the inaccessible border regions.

Pakistan media is reporting the government claims it killed 200 Taliban fighters last night.

Long history and a very fragile up-and-down relationship of short term alliances for strategic ends that revert to antipathy. Recently Afghanistan killed some Pakistan military officers. Pakistan responded by striking one of the tribal leaders.
