Agreed 💯% owned horses and cats most of my life and things shifted for the worse with the conglomerate vet practices in terms of both pricing and the quality of vets. You rarely see the same vet 2x and always haranguing you to sign up to subscription based health plans or "medicate". Conned again.

The treatment prices were so high that the insurance company capped the payments. This is a rip off based on an assumption that customers are insured. It is hard for those without insurance. The same treatment at an independent would have been half of what we were charged

markrpriestley.bsky.social
Our local independent vet is very reasonable. A trip to a chain vet in Fort William cost us over £500 for an overnight stay after what was likely cannabis poisoning (after eating human poo - don’t laugh, a stoned dog that kept falling over)

markrpriestley.bsky.social
The purchasing of independent vets by national chains seems to be the problem - with a business model of hiking up prices to maximise income from insurance. The result is ripped off customers and higher insurance premiums

Price cap should be placed on vet prescriptions, watchdog says

The Competition and Markets Authority said price caps should be placed on prescriptions provided by vets to stop pet owners from being ripped off

This is not peace. It is the first stage in returning agreed rules to warfare and occupation

Without an end to occupation, the release of Palestinian leaders from captivity and return of justice through The Hague we are just seeing rich and powerful leaders toying with people’s devastated lives.

On the centenary of Thatcher's birth, there have been predictable calls for a memorial to her memory. But Britain's 2300 food banks serve that purpose already.

The Tories had 40 deals in the bag, remember? (They didn't).
They needed to say they'd got two biggies just to show how easy it all was and how great they were.
Content? Irrelevant.
We all pay the price for their lies in office, fighting Britain's corner.
They betrayed Britain - and want your vote!

If I remember rightly NZ got everything they asked for. Became a bit of a joke on NZ TV. The UK government a laughing stock.

‘Why did he/Tories Tories sign them?’

Because they are incompetent and corrupt charlatans?

Former Tory Minister Michael Gove says the post-Brexit Tory trade deals with Australia and New Zealand were bad for UK farmers.

Why did he/Tories Tories sign them?

Brexit hasn't yielded any economic benefits. UK gave up the best trade deals and now scavenges for whatever it can get.

The rainbow is Brocken Spectre, btw. One of the loveliest mountain cloud phenomena

These photos are spectacular. What a day for it. The one with the rainbow and the other with the dog's reflection 👌 One of my favourite books is Nan Shepherd's The Living Mountain.

Trump cites a murderous war criminal to attack the Nobel Peace Prize committee’s decision. Truly absurd and disturbing. And narcissism of a pathological degree.

This is an interesting and important contribution - especially in the way it reported that the government is considering weakening the OBR
