This approach, of course, is quite familiar to communities that have been dealing with police abuses for as long as there have been professional police forces. In 2000, then–New York City Mayor and future Trump adviser Rudy Giuliani justified the killing of the Haitian American Patrick Dorismond by police by quipping that he was “no altar boy.” Embarrassingly for Giuliani, whose capacity for shame was overestimated even then, it turned out that Dorismond had literally been an altar boy. Dorismond’s mother responded to the campaign to justify her son’s killing with an observation that continues to haunt me decades later.

“They kill,” Dorismond said, “and after that, they kill him the other way—with the mouth.”

Taking Good’s life wasn’t enough. The moment she died, it became imperative for the administration to also destroy her memory.

I’m not linking but I just read a columnist (one of my favorites) say Trump “has no ideology beyond his own power.”

Ten years in, this trope should die. Trump's ideology is white supremacist and that goes a long way in explaining his imperialism and protectionism.

Venezuelan opposition leader MACHADO has been pushing for an audience with President DONALD TRUMP to “give Trump her Nobel Peace Prize,” a Trump confidant told me a few hrs ago.

Tonight, the president announced on SEAN HANNITY’s program that she's coming to see him next week.

And so begins the campaign to persuade the president to endorse yet another change of leadership in Venezuela…

For Machado, this is about much more than any award. After living in hiding for 16 months, she will almost certainly use the opportunity to press the president on the future of her country — but especially her own role in it as a leader.

The effort to get Machado face-time with the president has involved more than the standard flattery/awards it takes to sometimes catch his attention. Behind the scenes, Fox News personality RACHEL CAMPOS-DUFFY, the wife of Transportation Secretary SEAN DUFFY, has been pushing for the meeting, according to two Trump associates familiar with the dynamics. (The president is fond of Campos-Duffy, I’m told.)
