Yep. 🙋‍♀️ allergic to the sun.

Cool!

And if you’re really lucky you get to keep your handpicked interim President forever, without running an actual search which has to have faculty input! Yay!

@mbkplus.bsky.social and I will have more thoughts on the podcast, but it's no coincidence that the two most draconian settlements were signed by *interim* university presidents.
Here’s the text of the Northwestern settlement with the DoJ, which includes a $75 million financial component / payoff (cc @profmarkovic.bsky.social):
BTW, any story about a possible Northwestern capitulation should include this detail (screenshot is from the oped linked below)

Excellent new work out by @paulcairney.bsky.social and coauthors. I kept nodding vigorously and saying “yes, exactly” as I was reading.

Hey #ceramics people: I’d love to see your wares! I’m looking for a handmade #vase or #pitcher with a wide opening that’s at least 11” high.

I watched all the episodes of that show that are available here for the express purpose of ogling knitwear.

With respect to Brendan & Daniel, I think this piece misses this mark. Young activists are out where ICE and CBP are, working to prevent our neighbors from getting hauled off to the gulag. I suspect they will come out en masse if it looks like direct action will help. Protests aren’t that rn.

I know. It’s atrocious.

Arrrrrrgg. This is pretty much the opposite of what we say in this paper that they SHOULD be doing to integrate federal data into a real, secure, useful linkage system.

Right up there with the rice truck
Because people keep asking, the Story of The Lizard In That Dude's Leg. Some caveats:

1. This happened more than twenty years ago. There are no pictures. There was a small article in a local paper with, again, no pictures (I'm assuming that's what the producers of 9-1-1: LONE STAR found).

That might be more than even I could use. Still, I admire her foresight.

How on earth would 4 sticks of butter last for all of Thanksgiving? I’ve gone through 8 already this year already and it’s only Monday!

Just heard from my sister in Iowa that cauliflower is going for $10.99/lb there. I think I’ll stay in PA, thanks.

Working hard to keep PA blue. Welcome!

Interesting. The article left me wondering why multi-family developers have “checked out” of lobbying for more efficient regulations, though. I also wonder why elevator and heat pump regs are less constraining in Europe. I suspect it’s not bc it’s “less” regulated. Maybe smarter regulation.
