Incredible footage of volcanic eruption of a dormant volcano in Ethiopia from a commercial plane.

A sight seen for the first time in recorded history. ⌚

Anyway, at Bergamo after a bit of a hold up arising from a articulated truck that had been utterly engulfed by flames. Just Milan, Naples, Lyon and Paris to go.

There's something rather incongruous about one of the bus stops being at an airport served mainly by low cost airlines that are the source of much of what is wrong with modern travel priorities and costings structures if we are to ever get serious about addressing transport sector emissions.

bsky.app/profile/pete... not a joke but might help you feel a little less alone in transport pain at least.
Home for the next 16 hours thanks to Italian strike tomorrow buggering up the train legs to Paris.

So long as it doesn’t end up like this bsky.app/profile/anne...
So this happened in Oslo yesterday. Four articulated buses got stuck in a roundabout.

When they said green travel I really wasn’t thinking the bus decor tbh

👀 Can you see me now?

The importance of visibility on our roads cannot be understated, particularly for vulnerable road users including pedestrians, cyclists, e-scooter drivers and motorcyclists.

I've seen many negative comments about the 3p per mile road tax for electric cars UK gov have announced in the budget. I don't know the details yet, I know the complaints will die down but the impact on regular people switching to EVs will definitely take a hefty knock.

I thought I might try the same experiment with a bit more context, and - I dunno - it seems to have stumbled a bit with the basic facts…

After a couple of tweaks, I think this is done. I don’t want to do too much to it.

Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.
If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?
what a surprise, majority of fash "Ireland is full" posts on shitter are from outside Ireland
#COP30 "exposed the world as it is — haltingly and slowly tackling climate pollution, and fragmented by rising economic nationalism and protectionism, rather than the united, optimistic community of nations that produced the Paris climate agreement 10 years ago."

The world is fractured. The climate talks reflected that.
Delegates from nearly 200 nations — not including the U.S. — showed they could make some progress. But they deferred the hardest decisions.

As I always say when some right-winger starts going on about "red tape that slows innovation", every regulation on the books represents a lesson we as a society learned the hard way, and then encoded so we wouldn't forget. It's someone's blood & pain.
I once knew a Federal bank examiner, and one time someone asked him why we had to KEEP inspecting banks over and over. He basically said every new batch of business school grads invents bank fraud from first principles.
AirBnB CEO calling it “vibe revenue” just 👨‍🍳 😘

The underlying cause of every bubble - debt masquerading as financial innovation - depends on not just short financial memory & speculative neophytism, but reinventing jargon of finance, like how each generation of kids has new ways to say same things.

COP30: UN climate talks fail to secure new fossil fuel promises
Nearly 200 countries attended COP30, which aimed to commit the world to take more action on climate change.

Two billion kids would REALLY appreciate it if we did more about this than just make a few non-binding promises every year & then instantly forget about them.
