E.P.A. to Stop Considering Lives Saved by Limiting Air Pollution
In a reversal, the agency plans to calculate only the cost to industry when setting pollution limits, and not the monetary value of saving human lives, documents show.

This is contrary to a large body of environmental case law as well as best practices for performing economic analyses of regulatory costs and benefits. It is, however, consistent with this administration's Orwellian approach to governance.

Things are feeling a bit gradually-and-then-suddenly out there.

It's hard even to comprehend how stupid this has become

We are getting a brand new law review off the ground, maybe the situation most conducive to home journal placement, and I *still* think it should be avoided.
One of my least popular periodic tweets: If you're a law professor, you might consider not submitting your articles to your own school's law review. Doing so can be unfair to authors elsewhere, as your home law review may evaluate your scholarship under a more lenient standard.

Bullet Train Explosion was great.

Despite these very real and very high hurdles, it still seems critical to charge at the state level if at all possible. Not (or not just) because federal prosecution is unlikely, but because of the federal pardon power.

Seems a little young for vampire stories but I defer to your parenting style

Did like anyone normal actually watching the fucking video before they tweeted it out? Or is the administration staffed head to toe with such Milleresque psychos it didn’t even occur to anybody to say “holy shit we need to wipe this footage immediately”?
Here’s a comment for the people who are upset that MN hasn’t charged Jonathan Ross already:

If you just Leeeroy Jenkins this shit you will lose and you will empower fascism and murder.

It is indescribably hard to prosecute cops for murder. It is even hard when the murder is ON VIDEO.

Wondering what the unitary executive folks think about separately elected state attorneys general?
More from the party of federalism: "the states are merely an agent for the federal government in counting and tabulating the votes. They must do what the federal government, as represented by the president of the United States, tells them, for the good of the country, to do."

I don't know what's worse. That they incorrectly think that they can do better picking individual stocks (marking them as fools) or that they know they can do better (marking them as corrupt, or at least committing insider trading).
The US has some of the world’s best climate scientists (and more of them than anywhere else) & has contributed disproportionately to understanding the climate system. It’s idiotic for the US to withdraw from the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change & the IPCC but it’s on brand for this regime.

President Trump says he will call on Congress to ban large institutional investors from buying single-family homes.

This is very popular overall, but it’s important to note that the MAGA base has been calling for this for some time, and calls for such a ban have ramped up in recent weeks.

Again, you might ask why. Why not just engage with people who share my views? Again, 2 reasons. First, ignoring people who disagree with you leads to sloppy reasoning. Ideological uniformity produces mistakes. (Empirical research confirms this IMO).
