Incidentally, I’ve been chafing a bit at the “No Kings” thing, because there are loads of monarchies that have more limits on executive power than the US does, but it has the great advantage that it makes Americans who want to oppose it sound, well, unamerican….
sjshancoxli.liberalcurrents.com
one of the reasons they're so mad at "no kings" is that they thought they were going to get a different kind of protest. they *want* the black bloc to be out there fighting with the cops. those are the images they've been trying to generate from "go." instead--

MAGA Rage at “No Kings” Boils Over—and It Quickly Backfires on Trump
As Trump allies smear the coming protests, a good writer on MAGA skewers the absurdity of these attacks on large swaths of Americans—and explains why our best recourse will be to turn out in force.

How W. E. B. Du Bois responded to government policing of "anti-American" sentiment during the 1910s:

"I took great satisfaction in being able to sit back in my chair and answer blandly, 'We are seeking to have the Constitution of the United States thoroughly and completely enforced.' ”
Federal agents invaded even the offices of The Crisis and the National Association for the advancement of colored people and asked searching questions: " just what, after all, were our objects and activities?” I took great satisfaction in being able to sit back in my chair and answer blandly, “We are seeking to have the constitution of the United states thoroughly and completely enforced.” It took some ingenuity, even for Southerners, to make treason out of that.

A temporary monument? That's just speedrun Ozymandias.

You've probably seen the photos of the "Arc de Trump," spotted in the Oval Office.

Now read our story behind the models — and how initial plans for a temporary, triumphal arch have given way to Trump's desire to build a permanent monument.

Scoopy details at @washingtonpost.com:
Trump eyes a triumphal arch to mark America’s 250th anniversary
The arch would be constructed across from the Lincoln Memorial, on a small patch of federal land currently occupied by a traffic circle.

“Baby in her placenta” is pretty bad for a HHS secretary but it’s arguably worse for a guy with six kids. It’s impossible to not learn this stuff as a dad if you’re even remotely paying attention just once.

nathanrichardson.bsky.social
I mean there's commitment to the bit and then there's overplaying it. "Was the grink there?" level annoying bro behavior.

The thing I can't process about Trump obstructing justice and impeachably corrupting the DOJ via DM isn't that he uses Truth Social for intragovernment communication, or even that he can't figure out how to send a DM on his own platform. It's that he uses his insult nicknames in official comms.

Drake sitting there reading about how good the judge thought the song was and how everyone really enjoyed it
The song contains lyrics explicitly accusing Drake of being a pedophile, set to a catchy beat and propulsive
bassline. "Not Like Us" went on to become a cultural sensation.

So skinny you can't see it either

nathanrichardson.bsky.social
Got it. Matches my read quite closely, and I'm writing on it in the narrow context of the attempt to withdraw the climate endangerment finding (which is essentially an invitation to the Court to overrule Massachusetts v. EPA). Will read and likely cite your paper!

nathanrichardson.bsky.social
Got it--is it fair then to understand your suggestion to be a rejection of the current administration's Presidency+Court lawmaking strategy in favor of a more small-d democratic Presidency+Congress one?

nathanrichardson.bsky.social
I agree but--devil's advocate--isn't this what Congress did after Watergate, largely w/o success (see, e.g. War Powers Act, Impoundment Control Act)?

Some lucrative opportunities there, though. Have you checked LinkedIn? I hear also that some institutions may grant you tenure for that.
