The US has some of the world’s best climate scientists (and more of them than anywhere else) & has contributed disproportionately to understanding the climate system. It’s idiotic for the US to withdraw from the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change & the IPCC but it’s on brand for this regime.

Also this is for the long haul. Farming needs to adapt also after 2050, and the people leading that then are about 10-15 years old now. They need to be sharp problem solvers, not AI addicts.

Overall, climate adaptation in agriculture is going to be rough. We have about 20 years to prevent it from being insanely rough or impossible. This is not the moment for breaking international networks, drilling more or letting AI do it.

- AI is a massive distraction to solving the climate crisis & dumbs people down
- Trump regime is making climate action impossible (and destroys a wealth of ag knowledge)

Thanks. I remember some studies, where herbicides had a clear negative effect about 12-15 m from the edge. This makes it hard to find the no-pesticides edges.

Thank you, great paper on the broader effects of herbicides! I wonder if the relatively low effect size from ag. practices was due to herbicide drift from adjacent fields? (Also could explain high benefits from adjacent organic or nat. grassland)
