Has any scientific journal tried this? Why would this not work? (Sure, it might result in some people being added to the writing team bc. they are active reviewers, but that would be a good thing.)
How about reciprocal review credits? In order to submit a manuscript you would need to provide 5-6 good reviews? Avoids gaming the system and rewards peer review.

When charity is compensated it ceases to be charitable and loses its moral qualities. There is reams of literature on this from the study of care.

Trying to fix the commercialisation of academia by commoditising peer review is like trying to cure termites with a controlled house fire.

Twitter implemented a new feature last night that displayed the country an account is in. So many of the ‘America First’ accounts were from foreign countries that they had to disable the feature within hours. 🙄

X rolled out a new feature overnight showing where accounts are based. This network of “Trump-supporting independent women” that claimed to be “real Americans” are based in Thailand.

The photos were stolen from European models & posts pushed pro-Trump lines while targeting Islam and LGBTQ people.

I am grateful for @adamjkucharski.bsky.social. He takes such care to deconstruct a claim made by the director of National Institutes of Health on excess mortality during the pandemic. We need sober analyses more than ever right now, even amidst the madness.

Politicians constantly claim that the government must “live within its means”, just like any family.

In this video, I explain why the household analogy is not only wrong — it is the foundation of austerity.

More evidence that the Trump/Witkoff “peace plan” for Ukraine came straight from the Russians - it uses Russian syntax.

It's a censorship engine designed to promote ideas that Elon Musk likes and suppress ideas that Elon Musk does not like. I really don't get why this evident fact - that Musk openly admits! - is so hard for so many people to understand
An X user asks Elon Musk why they’re seeing tweets from left-wing lawmakers.

Musk: “Because we are failing very badly with the recommendations algorithm. Doing my best to address this.”

Where are global CO2 emissions heading?

Middle-of-the-road? But just because we have followed the SSP2-45, SSP4-60 path for 10 years, does not mean we follow it for the next 70 years.

Policy & technology have pushed the world away from the high-end, but 2.7C in 2100 & rising is not a good outcome!

Oh, that was what the CDR in the climate scenarios was. Everything is ok, if our kids and grandkids just, you know, remove the CO2 we put to the atmosphere. Sounds fair.
Children Do Removals (CDR). Surely there must be something better...

Pitää paikkansa – ennusteella on monia sovelluskohteita. Tällä hetkellä se seuraa pinnalla kelluvia, massattomia ajelehtijoita. Mikäli kellujalla on enemmän massaa, löytyy käytetystä ohjelmakoodista valmiudet myös tämän tarkasteluun.

We’re watching a shift where AI simulates the cohesion and reinforcement that used to require an entire online community. A single person can now build a complete parallel reality with nothing more than a prompt window. Which seems bad.

The bigger change is presentation, historically, these emails were visually chaotic: sudden colour changes, ALL CAPS, screenshots pasted at random. Classic signs of disordered thinking. Now they’re neat, structured, and grammatically consistent. The delusion hasn't changed, but the formatting has.
