It is important to promise, now, that whatever Trump builds at the White House will be torn down as soon as he leaves.

I don't want to divert the main thread too badly so starting a new one. Everyone post your comically shitty and small local Trader Joe's parking lot and argue about why its The Worst In America in the replies.
I know everyone thinks this about the parking lot at whatever Trader Joe's they shop at, but I would like to nominate Bressi Ranch's Trader Joe's as the most comically undersized, badly designed and psychotic TJ's parking lot in America. A real exemplar

there's a couple of what Nolan's talking about here - new sprawl-oriented neighborhoods but with a walkable-ish retail town center - in North County San Diego: Bressi Ranch and San Elijo Hills. And the result is they are two of the most expensive and desirable neighborhoods in the US

NEW: The Trump-Vance White House has falsely accused an ally of Pope Leo — Sr. Norma Pimentel — of illegal activity tied to migrant aid, and cut off all federal funding to Catholic Charities in Texas.

Church leaders say it’s a targeted, political reprisal against Pope Leo and the Catholic Church.

Propaganda. We thought that it was gauche and problematic to have government propaganda about public accomplishments and so people forgot about them. People consistently like the military more than ‘the government’ and you know what a large part of that is? They have an advertising budget.
I think about this, also in terms of vaccines, and really struggle with how you have a free society that doesn’t fall into this trap in one way or another. solved problems become invisible and the solutions become the source of conspiracy theories.
This seems logical but Dems solved* the whole problem of old-age health care costs in the mid-1960s and then they lost five of the next six presidential elections because by 1968 it was a solved problem and no one cared about it.

*Yes oversimplifying here and the rest of course.

Would also just like to remind the general public that Olivia Nuzzi was *also* one of the biggest boosters of the “Biden is non compos mentis & the campaign is covering it” narrative, including writing one of the core pieces that kicked it off in the first place.
Nuzzi wrote an article in Sept 2024 glazing Trump as her lover was negotiating for a role in his administration. According not only to Lizza but Nuzzi herself, she was helping RFK with these negotiations!

The 25th anniversary of Bush v Gore is today. The conspiracy mongering & corruption of the GOP has been brewing for a long time.

Roberts, Barrett and Kavanaugh were all on Bush's legal team, where they pushed unfounded legal theories. SC justices were already enmeshed in voter fraud myths.

It's remarkable how perfectly this awful story is similar to The Dreyfuss Affair, from the banishment to a cruel tropical prison to the world's worst and stupidest people refusing to let it go even for decades after he was freed.
This is just some ordinary dude no one had ever heard of, quietly getting by, and the administration has decided in a fit of pique to hound him for the rest of his life because otherwise they'd have to tacitly admit they're capricious incompetent villains. Just let him live, ffs

For Trump, declining to 36 percent approval is “good news.”

For Biden, holding steady at 41% is “a source of concern.”
