My god it was a hit—it was inescapable for kids at the time with all the tie-ins, etc.

I’m still thinking of the unicycle gift. First off, that is an awesome fact to know about you. But second, if it’s not asked for (has it ever?) that is world-record gift-giving acumen to get right.

Needless to say, I tried to wear both when visiting (often enough to be noticed, not so often it looked on purpose), which likely only cemented the idea that she got it right. And maybe she did. PS Unlike the army, I don’t think the circus has a max age on recruits ;)

My mother was the opposite—seemingly pricey gifts that made one wonder if I really come off as an adult needing—to pick two Xmas gifts at random—a denim shirt with Disney characters or a train watch that on the hour sent a train around the dial to a loud “choo choo.”

Now this is a lede to a thread that stops at just the right spot where no one would not keep going.

RESULT: New Orleans has a new mayor. Helena Moreno, a Democrat known as a progressive member of the city council, easily won today’s mayoral race and cleared the 50 percent threshold to avoid a runoff. She’ll replace the retiring Democratic Mayor, Cantrell.

Needless to say, this is years of training to get to this moment.

Portland's famous Unipiper was spotted at the Portland ICE protest where he played his bagpipes in front of Santa, Mr. Potato Head, Garfield and more -- all while surrounded by bubbles.

This also feels like geezers going “he’s going, that’s up his alley.”

(Not “usually mentioned” but mentioned above—that was meant as agreement.)

There is the very dangerous cauldron of stuff usually mentioned but it’s fit into all-too-typical ways ppl use to explain away the fragility of human being so it might not affect them—“sorry Sally has cancer, but she did smoke twice as a teen, plus she does like Xmas cookies” type stuff.

I see comments below about how could anyone be such a fool or whatever and I feel about that like I do when ppl say that about people who were conned—no one should have to be on their guard every moment of every interaction—like just scrolling social media. Everyone is so smart until they aren’t.

Great kicker. Marc Benioff’s PR team wanted him to do an interview about philanthropy. Instead he sounded off on a bunch of Trump policies he supports and called for the White House to send troops to SF.

Doesn’t seem like the comms team was pleased with how the interview went..

The hot new thing in relationship counseling, I’m sure.

How has it not been a serial bit on some comedy show of “partner explains online thing to normie spouse who has questions”?

petergratton.bsky.social
Does this mean no one can see I didn’t get the cut quite right?

petergratton.bsky.social
Yeah nice juxtaposition. Not sure what the photo means but I like it!

This is definitely something I didn’t know until buying one—but yeah, turns out not needing a transmission or to convert explosions into forward momentum leads to less upkeep.

Full stumble into a half stumble, roll left to create an opening—just like in practice.

George S.—you wouldn’t think that model of needing constant press attention while feuding constantly with one and all over one’s incompetence and crazed outbursts would be emulated, let alone become a politics but here we are.

Not to force the metaphor but part of the essay is about how no one even cared about the puck and suddenly you’re being asked about the puck. And you’ll give your views, sure, but now it seems like you just care about the puck.

When you are arguing that Schmitt has not been influential in your thinking
As I have pointed out many times, the friend-enemy distinction is fundamental to politics,
