Permanently. Itโ€™s private land so the risk was always there. Apparently our public lands department is working on an alternative trail alignment

Theyโ€™re also trying as much as possible to go after cities that arenโ€™t upholding fair housing laws by being the most exclusionary in their region

I donโ€™t think that (a) YIMBY groups claim that theyโ€™re the ones who started work on affordable housing and (b) they claim that all income levels will be served by the market. Theyโ€™re generally a โ€œyes andโ€ group when it comes to supply and subsidies.

Seems like heโ€™s having fun and maybe thinking about one more year. The performance by the defense in the last two weeks might be giving him pause about Scalley being ready

Iโ€™ve seen some NGOs celebrating market housing not being built as a win, as it it was a polluting land use. Even if that meant not having any guarantees that subsidized housing would be built.

I can understand this sentiment, but the leaders of many justice-oriented NGOs have an anti-market ideology and tend to deny the growing evidence of the benefits of housing supply. The โ€œlived experiencesโ€ term is also becoming increasingly problematic when used to justify exclusionary zoning
While @resnikoff.bsky.social's article has some valid criticism, part of the challenge underscored here is that the YIMBY movement needs to continue to engage with justice orgs and listen to the lived experiences in dialogue. Swooping in and telling communities what to think is the wrong approach.

Bologna is building a streetcar in one of its most iconic streets. People are losing their minds about not being able to drive there. Car brain has poisoned Italy and other EU countries, but the arc of history bends towards justice, including away from cars
