we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

I spent a lot of sophomore year of high school wearing this exact outfit, which should give you a sense of what Diane Keaton meant to me. She was incandescent as Annie Hall and amazing in so many other films I loved (Reds, Manhattan, etc.). This one is really hitting me hard.
