The nyt heaped mounds of uncritical, cheerleading coverage on Cass, a shoddy, politically motivated report. It ignored this sober data-filled analysis.

So did the very Utah pols who ordered it up. It didn’t fit the narrative of bigotry.

This exemplifies how big media like the nyt skewed the facts to serve their bias.

“In contrast to the Cass Report and Trump’s HHS document, no national mainstream media organizations have run stories on the Utah evidence review ... “
An inependent review of medical evidence on trans youth healthcare found substantial evidence of benefit, and no evidence of harm.

This was one of our top stories this year. Legacy news, who extensively covered a review finding the opposite, ignored this.

A 1,000-page report by the College of Pharmacy at the University of Utah, which found care safe and effective, stands out from others: It’s both independent and an actual review of the evidence.

“Two years ago, Lia was a talented young swimmer at Middlebury; now, her name is almost entirely absent from the college’s athletics website, and her roster profile has been removed entirely.”
The death of Lia Smith shook many in the trans community to their cores, while online it seemed like the top priority of non-trans people was to insist there's no proof that the 21-year-old's ban from her beloved swim team caused her suicide.

Re-sharing as it was one of our top stories this year.

We drove past Middlebury College this past weekend and I told Best Friend ™️ about her.

He'd never even *heard* of her story, and we live just a couple hours from there and our news outlets frequently publish stories about what happens in Vermont.

It was almost radio silence about this.

Prison life isn't necessarily what you expect. Would you have guessed that American prisons often rely on incarcerated members of the LGBTQ+ community for their administrative skills?

The current crusade against trans people imperils not just their rights but the survival of the legal doctrine built to protect all women from discrimination.

Assigned Media aren't asking you for money, but I'm asking you on behalf of all trans journalists:

If you've got some coin, toss some into the plate of trans journalists telling stories from a trans perspective, because the institutionally-transphobic corporate media sure as fuck won't.
We know everyone is asking for your money this month, but here's a twist: We're NOT asking you to donate in December, we're asking you to spread the word.

It's important to note that altho all these bathroom bills do affect bathroom use in govt buildings, public universities, etc. and have a chilling effect for trans ppl, actual enforcement has been very rare. Mostly they seem to increase profiling/harassment of women who appear gender nonconforming.
