Joseph Schafer (1867–1941) was the first academically trained historian in the U.S. state of Oregon. He studied with Frederick Jackson Turner, and chaired the history department at the University of Oregon from 1900 to 1920. He authored A History of the Pacific Northwest in 1905 and revised it in 1918; the book was considered the standard history of the region into the 1950s. .. more

He then asked for unanimous consent for the Senate to call up amendment 4153 to H.R.6938, Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations. Senator Collins objected to his request.

Consider Amira Zairi, a self-professed “AI educator” and “ambassador” for Adobe, LeonardoAI, and TripoAI, who posted a scathing rant this week on X-formerly-Twitter to her 49,000 followers. Her complaint? Other people were “plagiarizing” her unique AI prompts. “‘Make your own prompts’ isn’t advice. It’s basic integrity,” Zairi wrote, using syntax that reads suspiciously like text generated by ChatGPT. “I’m honestly fed up. Changing a few words, renaming the prompt, or slightly rephrasing it doesn’t make it yours, the idea is still the same, the vibe is the same, and the results are obviously similar.” “And no, this isn’t about one or two people, and it didn’t happen once!!!!” Zairi continued. “Creating your own prompts is actually easier than copying someone else’s work! Try it.”

TWO. Two chances this Supreme Court had to make the right call. One was the simply call January 6 what it was: An insurrection. Even the liberal justices couldn’t do that. The other was to not make sham and politically-motivated investigations an “official act.”
