This shift in narrative shows that the amazing people of Minnesota are winning this battle
CNN put together a clip of JD Vance claiming ICE agents have "absolute immunity" followed by him two weeks later claiming "I didn't say that officers who engage in wrongdoing would enjoy immunity"

This presidential administration is so centered social media that they are literally encouraging government agencies to disseminate inaccurate information to prevent internet memes
CNN: DHS officials have come to FEMA staff and told them to limit the use of the word ice…they are worried that by posting something like, watch out for the ice, that it's going to become a meme….
Minnesota shifting narrative from "rabble rousing protesters" vs "law enforcement" to "people of conscience" vs "evil regime." This is essential to defeating authoritarianism - exposing who, what & why they are by demonstrating who, what & why we are.
And MAGA knows it.

in case you're curious about how angry Minnesota is about ICE, it was -20 today

Note how there's no violence or chaos when the cops aren't rioting.
Demonstrators as far as the eye can see. Current status of the march in Downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota for Ice Out of Minnesota. They are turning onto 3rd Street from 5th Avenue.
I'm on the Green Line towards downtown Minneapolis ICE OUT protest.

The train filled immediately. Even 20 stops away from our destination we reached capacity.

People are cheering at every stop when they see people waiting to board because we are all starting to realize how big this is.
Another day, another outrage; ICE under Trump is going to deport dozens of people to Iran, including two gay men previously arrested by the regime who face the death penalty for their orientation, and despite the ongoing crackdowns which have killed thousands.

An administration of total inhumanity.

It is amazing that the party who insist removing confederate monuments is erasing history also insist on removing monuments commemorating the enslaved people those confederate leaders were fighting to keep in bondage
Here's one of the panels that Trump just removed from the President's House site in Philadelphia. (I took this picture of it last March. A couple of weeks later I led a walking tour that included the site.) Does this information "disparage" the United States?

I met an absolutely lovely academic who asked whether my department back home is affected by ICE -- a question dramatizing how little info is getting out.

For the record, the small example I chose:

My dept has a carpool to pick up grad students of color who can't safely commute to campus alone.

The only reason I can think of why they are not is because deep down they actually support this and they will hide this support behind the mythic swing voter that never seems to vote for them anyway
I do not understand why Dems (or someone) are not broadcasting wall to wall montages of ICE thugs abusing our neighbors, abducting children, terrorizing US citizens, invading homes w no warrant, or murdering mothers. This should be a massive exercise in ISSUE SALIENCE driven by Dem elites.

If only Nazi opponents had focused on the price of eggs surely Hitler would have failed
People are waving around 50/50 polling on abolish ICE and in the same poll Trump’s is like 30 points under water on affordability. It’s not at all crazy for professional politicians to think there’s a bigger advantage in talking about the latter!

This new book invites readers to question whether language planning and policy can survive decolonialization. buff.ly/lPvmAAL

Facebook reminded me that this is the anniversary of Citizens United and while my post was prophetic in many ways I don’t think even I could have imagined the mess we would be in 16 years later

It is Trump’s ICE agents who are inciting violence
Violence only helps Trump & may provide him an excuse to further trample our rights by invoking the Insurrection Act.

I wonder if my university which systematically scrubbed any reference to diversity, equity and inclusion from our website will now put them back 🤔

It’s infuriating how many people claim to care about fictitious “child trafficking” conspiracies about trans people and Wayfair and Democrats but will miss, ignore, and distract from actual government agents kidnapping children in front of their very eyes

TACO Trump’s Presidential Art of the Deal

1.) Make an unreasonable demand

2.) Make unreasonable threats when these demands are not met

3.) Claim that a framework has been agreed to that makes following through on these threats unnecessary

4.) Never release a framework

5.) Rinse and repeat

Apparently according to the NYTimes in the last century the US was not an imperial power. Good to know.

Cubans convinced themselves they were different and are now discovering that supporting Trump will not protect them from being treated just like every other migrant
