Patty, a woman observer in Minneapolis, was abducted from a car by federal agents today. She was released and talked about her experience in custody.

An agent said, "You guys gotta stop obstructing us. That's why that lesbian bitch is dead."

Early 2025: Trump admin tries to illegally shut down the CFPB, the newest member of the Federal Reserve system. Jay Powell says nothing.

Summer 2025: Trump admin tries to illegally fire Fed Governor Lisa Cook. Powell says nothing.

2026: Trump admin comes for Powell. He finally finds his voice.

Trump’s issue is not with an authoritarian government murdering its own people but with any government that pose a threat to his personal economic interests and those of his friends

Good Move, Denmark 🇩🇰 👏🏻
Also, by their own standards, the cops protecting the Capitol on Jan 6 should have opened fire all over.

"The Philosophy professor at A&M has decided to comply with instructions to replace the readings from Plato... with the New York Times article about how he had to replace the readings from Plato" — David Paternostro

Twitter successfully branding itself as a public square has led people to believe that commodifying our personal information is necessary for democracy. If anything, it is actually an existential threat to our democracy.

If this happened at my university I would literally not be able to teach my own research in core courses in my program

I’ve talked about “internal colonies” of the US, but I never thought the phrase might describe the entire state of MN: but cutting off food is really some colonial-level collective punishment

WSJ investigation: In the past 6 months ICE agents have fired at vehicles 13 times, leading to:

* 8 people shot
* 5 of which were U.S. citizens
* 2 died
* no victims drew a weapon

The playbook: Agents box in a vehicle, block attempts to flee, then fire

Videos Show How ICE Vehicle Stops Can Escalate to Shootings
A WSJ visual investigation found that the Minneapolis ICE killing is one of 13 incidents where federal immigration agents have used deadly force against civilians in vehicles since July.

A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

In a deadly start to the year, ICE announced the agency’s THIRD detention death of 2026 late Friday night. People are dying in detention at a rate of one every three days right now.

Kind of wild there has been almost no coverage of the fact that the federal government unleashed chemical weapons against literal kids *at school*.

When Renee Good said "I'm not mad at you" what the ICE goon heard was "I'm not scared of you."

That's what enraged him. The populace wasn't fully terrorized and cowed into submission yet, so he acted to make that happen.

Many are raising concerns that the settlement only includes 4 months pay to the end of his contract. I still think getting Clemson to admit wrongdoing is a huge win but also think this points to the existential threat that the increasingly contingent nature of academic positions poses to democracy.
We love to see universities caving to right wing hysteria both literally and figuratively paying the price for it
The lawsuits have been plentiful as well as the settlements

Some people who love to fly the “don’t tread on me” flag really like to celebrate when the government quite literally treads on its own citizens.

Cue the Dem strategist who will suggest that the Dem response should be to insist that ICE agents are shooting people in the face as a distraction from the price of eggs

I am not a community organizer but it seems to me that the first step in mobilizing people around a specific issue is to help them to realize how it impacts them. ICE agents will shoot you in the face even if you are a US citizen seems like a good place to bring new people into the resistance to me.
i have to mute replies to this post. i was a noncitizen for most of my life and i can understand feeling triggered by the repeat references to renee good's citizenship status.

but people attacking me for being insufficiently woke on immigration is, well, triggering a lot of repressed anxiety 🤷🏻‍♀️
i think it is ok to reiterate that the victim as a us citizen. yes, noncitizens are equally entitled to human rights. but also, it's important to illustrate how ice isn't about immigration at all

Although a white woman was killed, remember that ICE was in Minneapolis because a MAGA agitator stirred up racist myths about Black immigrants committing fraud and Trump latched on to it to appease his base and distract from his failures as president. Structural racism means violence for everyone.

This. A government agency who is able to kill anybody with impunity is able to kill any of us with impunity
Right. The point is not “it matters extra because it’s a citizen,” the point is “we either hang together or we will all hang separately.”

Emily Heller, an eyewitness, is speaking out to set the record straight. Officers were screaming at Renee Nicole Good, “Move, move, move.”

So she moved, and they shot her multiple times? Then Noem and Trump branded her a domestic terrorist. Does everyone see how absolutely insane that sounds?
