The thing about praising folks for holding "heterodox" positions and "running against the party," is that if everyone is meant to do that what then are the positions of the party against which you're meant to run?

Rather than retreating from what his committed opposition claims, Mamdani revels in having the *right* argument.
Throwback FDR: I welcome their hatred.
Bonus - he shows audience how much people are thrilled to be around him, which cues feeling that you are happy to be around him too.
