Fair point on the focus but I don’t think that will change much — it will just be based on worse measures. A question asked the same way at regular intervals for close to 90 years is a great resource.

Court battle over surveillance footage at the Broadview ICE detention center reaches new levels of kafkaesque absurdity: The DOJ claimed it *couldn't afford* hard drives to put video footage on. Plaintiffs bought THE US GOVERNMENT hard drives. ICE "lost" them.

These people are just crazy. Trump gets up and says "MASS DEPORTATIONS MASS DEPORTATIONS MASS DEPORTATIONS" and they're like "he probably means a path to legal status for deserving immigrants"
“Latino voters, Asian-American voters who voted for the president, they voted because they wanted to see immigration reform,” Rivera said. “I don’t think all Republicans realize that the president would not have won if it wasn’t for those voters.” Across the country, Pennsylvania state corrections worker and former National Guardsman Brandon Neumeister, 36, also wants the president to focus on immigration reform this year. “If they’ve been here, they’ve been productive, they’ve stayed out of trouble, I feel like those are the type of people we would want,” Neumeister said. Rather than deporting immigrants “after they’ve been a fixture in communities for decades,” he added, the administration should create “a more streamlined method for them to attain citizenship.”

Right now Rikers Island, the physically largest jail in the entire United States, is holding under 7,000 people.

ICE's warehouse plans include detention camps which will hold between 8,500-10,000 people in buildings not designed for human habitation.

J.D. Vance and his family are attending the Winter Olympics in Milan with an exceptionally large security and logistics operation. Their entourage includes a fleet of 14 aircraft and a motorcade of 100 vehicles navigating tightly secured streets. Eleven of the planes are carrying his delegation, staff, former athletes, and security personnel, while one aircraft is dedicated solely to food supplies. Two additional planes transported armored vehicles across the Atlantic.

The owner, in a note to readers, wrote that he aimed to boost trust in The Post. The effect was something else entirely: Subscribers lost trust in his stewardship and, notwithstanding the newsroom’s stellar journalism, The Post overall. Similarly, many leading journalists at The Post lost confidence in Bezos, and jumped to other news organizations. They also, in effect, were driven away. Bezos’s sickening efforts to curry favor with President Trump have left an especially ugly stain of their own. This is a case study in near-instant, self-inflicted brand destruction.

The justices claim their papers belong to them, not the government or the public, and generally arrange to have them locked away until long after their deaths. The court releases no visitor logs to reveal who meets with the justices.
