The Jack Smith hearing shows what was lost in the fracturing of American media
Perhaps the most enlightening comment former special counsel Jack Smith offered during his hours-long testimony before the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee centered not on Trump but on what Sm...

The 5-year-old arrested by ICE In Minnesota is detained at Dilley. We reported on conditions there in the below article.

Parents said the food was contaminated with mold and worms & that children were so under so much stress that they were hitting their own faces & wetting themselves.
Analysis by The Marshall Project of ICE data obtained by the Deportation Data Project found that the Trump administration’s revival of family detention has swept thousands of children into ICE custody. At least 3,800 children under 18, including 20 infants, have been booked since Trump took office.

Former immigration staffers argue ICE is choosing to detain families for prolonged periods to speed deportations and compel them to leave.

Darrell Issa claims that he and Jordan "saw wrongdoing" after 2020, so they voted against accepting electors from two states. But, of course, they didn't see any such wrongdoing, since there wasn't any.

It was wrong to view the shifts to Trump in 2024 as an emerging new coalition (as I've written a lot) so it is wrong to suggest the coalition has since dissipated. The actual emergent "coalition" since 2016 is distance from the political establishment that leads to yoyo-ing electoral preferences.

"The rule of law is not self-executing." This, from Smith's testimony, is the central reason this hearing and his efforts are so important. It's a reminder that the law is not being executed faithfully or consistently at the moment.

Jim Jordan just started speaking and has already lied. (Said Smith's team sought "phone calls.") He wastes no time. A master of efficiency.

Any vegetarian learns this within the first year of abstaining from meat.

This article, while thorough, ignores the cultural element: Meat is seen as MANLY and vegetarianism as effeminate, and all of the rhetoric (outside from industry actors) is downstream from that.

"Former Trump attorney BLAS–" Ty Cobb
"Former Trump press secretary ATTA–" Stephanie Grisham

It would be useful if the universe of critics from Trump's former circles were a bit wider.

Two things to remember about Jack Smith’s testimony:

1. The only people who question his objectivity are GOP politicians and members of the Trump-obeisant media.

2. No one has as complete a picture of the evidence as does Smith and his team. His critics, in fact, have usually willfully ignored it.

The choice for replacing Rodney Scott, if pushed out, is seemingly Joseph Mazzara, a lawyer who’s facing possible contempt charges in the CECOT case in front of Boasberg. He may have been the one who wrote the “raid homes without real warrants” memo.
