My latest article for @ggwash.org takes a look at some of the biggest urbanist bills of #MDGA25, especially in transit, housing, & even the environment. Check it out, there's a lot of good stuff being discussed in Annapolis, even amidst all the chaos in Washington: ggwash.org/view/98490/w...
What to watch in the 2025 Maryland General Assembly
Between a budget crunch, a housing crisis, and a new appetite in Annapolis for tackling longstanding energy and environmental issues, this year’s Maryland General Assembly session could be a very prod...

misread this as Wesley Crusher and was very confused.

ultimately a reasonable concern, but what's more remarkable is that James Blunt yes, that James Blunt, under the command of Michael Jackson, no not that Michael Jackson, refused Clark's order to shoot Russians.

it took gratuitous cruelty and disregard for international law to turn this into a scandal, but well, at least this administration is always good for those
There are now bipartisan investigations in both the House and Senate into the administration targeting and killing people in the Caribbean without due process.

Dimon on why JPMorgan Chase is not funding WH Ballroom:
We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.

im not like a historical materialist guy but i do think low hanging fruit for a left leaning mayor promising affordability is to do abundance-type yimby/regulatory reforms. it also provides you cover to do social welfare soc dem stuff.
thinking of that quote from gustavo petro about how columbia first has to do functioning capitalism before it can do socialism
Honestly it's funny that he is *quite literally* saying "deregulate and reduce the burden of taxation on business to create jobs" and nobody on the left will criticise him. Good.

we had conference divisions for a reason and the tiebreaker here is "higher conference opponent winning percentage" which is not something anybody — the players on the field, even the coaches — even had any control over
For real though. Chaos is great but having to watch a bad 7-5 Duke team in a conference title game while an actual good team sits home because of tiebreaker minutiae is just bad
This might be an unpopular take ... but if I'm the ACC and Cal upsets SMU, I override the tiebreakers and put Miami in the ACC championship game against Virginia.
