My rule would be I don't care about aesthetic style, but there is a hard cap on the number of neutral-color buildings in a given radius.
No more than 30%.

My zoning code would only have two rules: glass tower skyscrapers should be adjacent from stonework ornamented ones to maximize cool reflections and there should be a Jamba Juice in every airport terminal. Otherwise, build whatever you want.

The political economic situation does kinda suck if you are a renter not in one of about three industries that pay well. And we're cutting property taxes and taxes on tips/overtime so if you're salaried you're responsible for even more of the tax base

So I don't think every liberal is randomly at risk of turning illiberal or fascist, but I do think there are things that make a person vulnerable to that kind of slide into darkness, and I think they don't have much to do with what you call your ideology on paper.

Yes, this is famously why YIMBYs are definitely representative of the communities in greatest need of housing affordability. /s A number of YIMBY groups have even changed strategies around urban housing to be better partners... that was because this is still a very real issue!

This is the thing that always inspiried me about the US public higher-ed system. That a country could be so wealthy that it can have schools where people build rocket ships under sports stadiums and somehow these are considered "unprestigious" to elitist snobs
