Megyn Kelly: “So I really do kind of not only want to see them killed in the water, whether they’re on the boat or in the water, but I’d really like to see them suffer. I would like Trump and Hegseth to make it last a long time so that they lose a limb and bleed out a little.” 1/2

its similar to belief that transgender people exist because of social media contagion
It's become normal now for high-level political figures to argue that an entire generation was brainwashed through fake videos into mass anti-Israel political mobilization by TikTok. Complete conspiracy thinking, rooted in zero evidence, based on nothing
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

Trump has pardoned:
(1) A former Honduran president convicted of drug trafficking
(2) Ross Ulbricht, who operated Silk Road, the dark web marketplace where illegal drugs were sold
(3) Binance founder Zhao who failed to stop criminals from using Binance to move money tied to drug trafficking. 1/

This could be a goddamn apocalypse for GOP state govts.
Note that a 14pt shift left in a red state is still catastrophic for the GOP: the only safe red states in such a wave (assuming even distribution) would be ID, OK, TN, KY, ND, AL, SD, WV, and WY.
looks like two completed counties (v red rurals) with Behn improving on Harris by 10 in one and 15 in the other -- huge shifts but not winning shifts

the Needle took a big dive to the right on the reporting of the Williamson County early vote, now R+5.7

betting markets now aligning on 5+ pt margin

Also, there's no contrast. Beijing's position is absolutely constant: wombs are state organs.
This truly comes across as Stratistimes saying they can excuse restricting abortions but draw the line at coercive reproductive control, which is… A Choice. Or in this case, not a choice, I guess.

Yeah that’s the thing the gop can’t really dump him even after he dies and they can’t afford to not dump him

They wedded themselves to a guy who 20% of voters will never turn on and is radioactive to another huge swath of voters they need.
Right. If anything this just leaves them rudderless because the die hards have made him a messianic figure. If he dies with no clear succesor who can gently pull them from the brink, the waterfall is still there (and I highly doubt JD is skillfully enough to pull that off).

trump says “they do nothing but complain”, but its been hard to hear him say a single positive word about this country in a decade
Pure, unmitigated hate.

we oftrn talk about social media being a radicalization engine, but for some it is an *de*-radicalization engine. unending, nonstop exposure since early 2010s to people with niche ideologies behaving badly has sharpened/reinforced my inclination towards conservatism

the QT and the replies are really great sources for people to block. the Argentine nationalists are understandable given education, but the foreign leftists have no excuse
every time Argentineans post their little crybully rants about the Falklands it's a reminder of the mentality that resulted in their incompetent fascist junta getting hundreds of their own conscript soldiers killed in an unprovoked invasion.

This whole thing is vibes based map-making and a perfect discourse tarpit because it lets everyone feel like an authority while systematizing a joke genre as though it’s a Linnaean taxonomy.

I know people are just having fun with it, but it drives me kind of insane whenever I see it.

one of the biggest problems of "knowledge work" is how the artifacts we produce have limited utility outside of the context of the applications they were created in, or otherwise (eg with PDFs) meant to be viewed by people, which i write about in today's newsletter:

Trump has been trying to go full dictator this entire time, if he could just do it he already would have. His public support plummeting isn’t going to make the task easier
Reality Time:

If Trump truly intends to go full dictator, it'll happen in the next 11 months. The way he's destroying the country, there is a full on GOP bloodbath coming next Nov, and when that happens and Dems take ALL of Congress, he knows he's going to be impeached, removed, and jailed.

Everyone has their beats when it comes to politics. For example, I try to tie everything to state legislative elections.

I'm just glad my beat isn't trying to dunk on progressives and promoting an ideology that's rapidly dying because being milquetoast in 2025 is lame as hell
