in inflation and that normally makes sense but,,,we don’t normally shut off student loans for that many people then suddenly turn it back on.

Iirc the number was 44mm but i think 6mm is a conservative estimate of non debtors affected by the pause ie spouses/family of the debtor etc

inflation, afg withdrawal, most pandemic stimulus getting cut off, and omnicron basically all happened within a few months, colonial pipeline hack too, which helped kick off inflation but i think deserves its own mention bc of the mass psychology around oil
