The CPC PAC, which she co-chairs, endorsed Biss last month

Another endorsement for Sen. Mike Simmons this morning, this time from ATU local 308
Rail workers are an essential part in the economic, environmental, and cultural fabric of our city: I'm incredibly honored to have their support for my campaign, and to be their champion in Congress!

NEW: In response to Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss' statement on Northwestern's settlement with the federal government, his opponent in the race for #IL09, Bruce Leon, seemed to applaud the university's agreement with the feds and attack Biss' statement as "not leadership" but "avoidance."

* I saw lots of stories during the break about Northwestern University agreeing to pay the federal government $75 million to get out of some legal hot water, but I haven’t seen many reports that actually detail what’s in the agreement. Click here for some insight into that, and click here for the actual agreement. Gov. [...]

#IL09 candidate Sen. Laura Fine on Northwestern:
Northwestern should not cave to this administration!

Bushra Amiwala on NU:

(She went there too)
This settlement never should have happened. Universities have a duty to defend academic freedom and the pursuit of truth, not bend to political pressure from Trump or anyone else.

I took part in the NU encampments as a student.
We must keep calling out those that cave to the Trump Admin, and the latest is Northwestern.

As part of their "deal," NU will pay $75 million, stop vital research, renege on agreements with its students over the war in Gaza, and more.

Throwing your students under the bus to please Trump. Shameful.

State Sen. Mike Simmons is the first #IL09 candidate to condemn Northwestern’s decision to settle with the Trump administration

I strongly condemn the settlement between Northwestern University and the Trump Administration: right now we need leaders who will unapologetically protect our people!

The weirdest local story in Chicago right now is City Hall messing with the Christkindlmarket in Daley plaza. They’ve dramatically cut capacity to half of what it was during COVID (???)
A beloved local tradition getting hassled, why????

Worth noting: NU's interim president, Henry Bienen, told faculty in mid-October that he wants to make a deal with the feds, but a red line is one that "hinders the autonomy of the University to teach what it wants, to hire who it wants, to have students that it wants," per the Daily Northwestern
