This would also explain why it looks like the UN flag, though that is also explained by the fact that the federation is templated based on United Earth, who is implied to either be the UN or at the least derives it's legitimacy from the project of the UN

It's also possible the entire flag is different depending on localization, with the universal translator, you could probably make that work seamlessly

Like the only reason anyone knows what an "emolument" is is because of trump term 1 discourse. People know that getting a plane from a foreign government or having your policy constantly move markets right after someone mysteriously makes a giant bet on the market is rotten

Like Trump 1 kept the corruption at a level where unless you're a lawyer you learn about the norm at the same time that you learn that it's being violated. This administration has been way more open about the corruption

Does anyone know how to actually get county level religion data? There seem to be surveys with published reports but I cannot find a data download anywhere for religious affiliation data (i can find congregation data, but that's not the same thing)

Ehhhh I'm not sure this is true. We have a pro abortion pro gun culture that's quite culturally conservative but in ways that can be libertarianismwashed for the most part

I think it created a justifying framework for a change the elites clearly already wanted to make (see for example them whining about cancel culture since day 1), but yeah for sure

None of this means the underlying ideology is even particularly bad! It's just that "the longstanding dispute between existing factions is tribal nonsense, our new way of framing the problem is way better!" will attract lazy dilletantish hipsters regardless of how true it is
