Beginning Monday, a Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate drink will be available exclusively at Starbucks cafés inside Target stores.

The chains are hoping the drink can drum up excitement from customers this holiday season.

Fancy running shoe store let me exchange for store credit, even though the shoes had 13 km on them and I did not have the box. Yay local service!
And now i have new shoes after trying on many new pairs.

We made shepherd's pie for a potluck and my husband, who helped make it, thinks it's a lot of work, maybe we should keep it for ourselves, maybe in the future we could save work/time by not baking it bc everything is already cooked, etc.
It's not a hard recipe? The top is instant mashed potatoes!

"If you hate GenAI you're going to have to stop playing new games when they all start using it"

My brother in Christ, my backlog is literally thousands of games long. I have lifetimes worth of earlier titles to play, & I will gladly do that instead of boiling the oceans for a new CoD or whatever

An explanation of why pundits are bad, possibly originally by @danasimpson.com /I Drew This? That if it's your $$$ job to publicly hate on pie every day, it doesn't matter if they discover pie cures cancer. You can't go on your show and declare pie is great actually, not if you want that money.

More people should read David Walker's Appeal because it illustrates how writing can in fact shape history.
On this day in 1830, North Carolina passed laws that criminalized teaching enslaved Black people to read and that made the repeated dissemination of anti-slavery pamphlets punishable by death.

It's a great cosmic joke that neurodivergence both runs in families and gets diagnosed based on parent reports. I was diagnosed at 30 because a man who has eaten potatoes every day for 57 years and a woman who collects loose buttons decided I was a perfectly normal child.

Dear reporters please stop using slang and/or song lyrics without looking up what they mean

(NOT related to recent bsky Main Character/discourse, but rather an article laying out the laws for electric bikes and scooters as knowledge to keep you from "riding dirty".)

Emailed the fancy shoe place about problems with new shoes and foot pain. Owner responded saying to bring them in for a look, may have to swap out shoes. "Swap out" his words, so fingers crossed for a reasonable way to handle $200 running shoes that are now slightly used.

Flipping the script. People who wake up super early in the morning are actually the losers. They have to get up before everyone else because they are adrift and can't manage time. Those proud night owls among us who confidently roll out of bed right before our first obligation are truly in control.

A convicted felon who had also been found liable for sexual assault and committed additional crimes in plain sight was close with a notorious child sex trafficker and likely participated in some of those crimes too got elected with much of that known and spent his presidency railing against “crime.”

We are now officially less than a week of news cycles away from the GOP saying “Trump didn’t do anything wrong. After all the girl was 15.”
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

NEW: @propublica.org investigated the Chicago apartment raid where kids were zip-tied and citizens detained for hours. They find:

- NONE of the arrested were criminally charged
- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
- ZERO legitimate reason for DHS to rappel from a Blackhawk.

The Republican president is a pedophile who has doubled my healthcare costs and let scores of violent criminals out of jail. But a Democratic mayor-elect wants to make busses free in a city I don't live in. I have never felt more politically homeless.

One horrific thing to me is that the president- a man who has gotten away with everything including literal murder up to this point- seems extremely nervous about anything regarding Epstein coming out. Like how bad does it have to be

The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

Shout out to everyone completely demoralized about the state of the world who still manages to get out of bed each morning.

And shout out to you, too if you’re still in bed. This shit is hard. Talk to your friends and neighbors. They’re going though it too, which is both terrifying and comforting.

Neutrality and objectivity are not the same thing and are, in fact, often contradictory goals. The objective truth is often not neutral in its political implications, and it would be a useless exercise if it was.
Got turned down on a piece about ICE in Chicago for an international news org because they believed I couldn’t be objective about my neighbors getting kidnapped. And well, guilty as charged I guess.

This is right. Democratic politicians complain about “circular firing squads” or “getting rid of litmus tests” because they don’t want to be held to account for their idiocy, corruption, and cowardice
I extend this grace to people who are doing the work.

To Senators? Fuck no, and fuck you.
But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.
