Thinking about Jeff Kent and Barry Bonds in the same clubhouse is diabolical.

We needed a Stephen Sondheim musical about this!!!

I think his joyful, normal appearance on Survivor really drove home how absolutely miserable he was playing baseball.
Jeff Kent showed more joy in his 17 days on Survivor than he did during his 17 seasons in the MLB

When Jeff Kent was a Dodger he was the last person to arrive to the clubhouse every day on the home or the road no matter what, and would plop down in his corner locker and never talk to his teammates.

But he did play every day and his on-field effort was never questioned.
Jeff Kent had the dignity to lie about his motorcycle injury

I don’t dislike Jeff Kent. He just showed up every day and did his best playing a sport he obviously does not enjoy, then retired. Never thought any of us would see him again.

Kent is the kind of mercenary Anthony Rendon would look like if Rendon had felt any responsibility to earn his contract.
He played for a team I covered and this is the first time I’ve ever seen him smile. Kinda terrifying tbh.
That jersey looks good on you, Jeff!

Lone of my biggest frustrations about this is that it’s turned into a teen issue and moral panic vs an actual measured approach that will require a multi pronged approach
It’s very funny to me that countries are trying to pass laws banning teens from social media until they’re older and can “handle it” as if the last decade hasn’t been about watching rich middle aged men nuke their brains on Twitter and then run the USA via shitpost.
Dude. Yes. Alito and Thomas are of course the standout examples, but all of the Republican justices have tells in their writing and their questioning indicating that they are, to varying degrees, marinating their brains in dumb bitch juice

We call this “crossing the 405” in LA.
Pete Alonso is driving 90 minutes from his Tampa home to the Winter Meetings in Orlando tomorrow to meet with the Red Sox and Orioles, per Jon Heyman. It's "unclear" if he'll meet with the Mets.

Is he mugging for the camera here or is this just his resting face? Does he ever stumble into bad lighting?

Ok but I was born in the 1980s and social media still broke my brain lol.

But at least I’m aware of it and am actively working to change that. No longer being on Twitter has helped a lot. No algorithm is huge.
Basically the only people that are capable of safely consuming online content are those born in the 1980s

I totally understand and support wanting to protect children from the firehose of toxicity that powers every social media site. But it’s not as if adult brains are any more equipped to handle this poison.

My theory, fwiw, is that Supreme Court Justices are not immune to Twitter brain poisoning. I suspect all six have horrific information environments and have therefore lost the ability to understand the people who don't agree with them.

He’s also a lame duck. His approval rating is in the toilet and voters would dump him into the Gulf of Mexico if they could.
Incredibly galling to hear Sauer talk about how the president is accountable to the public through elections, when the president he's referring to is one who attempted to illegally overturn an election he lost

Sentimental Value is the best film I’ve seen this year but I haven’t seen One Battle After another yet. Hamnet is also very good, and Brendan Fraser is great in Rental Family.

Seeing Marty Supreme tonight.

For the record, I am not part of the crowd that thinks Biden's decline was a media fabrication. I saw the debate, after all. But given what is now known about Nuzzi, NY Mag should probably be issuing a full retraction on pieces like this.

Out of curiosity I popped over to @nymag.com to see how they're handling Nuzzi's story on Biden's reported cognitive decline. It still says an internal review found "no ... evidence of bias." She wrote campaign memos for a rival presidential candidate!! nymag.com/intelligence...

Journalists and media: stop bothsidesing attacks on childhood vaccines. We look to you to report what is happening and what the effects will be, not repeat the administration’s rhetoric. The effects will be more sickness and more death. That is not something to bothsides. Hold power accountable.
