🦁 The Penn State Job Report Card + Potential Candidates

It's one of the best jobs in the sport. It's aligned on rev share/NIL. Next year's roster might need some work.

Matt Rhule, Curt Cignetti, Matt Campbell and other names to watch...

Franklin deserves credit for forcing through a lot of modernization of the program. And you're not keeping those NFL guys who came back if you didn't have the money to pay them. PSU has come very far on that front.

$20 million and likely more that. He ain't leaving.

That's always been the case but ADs got too enamored with play-calling or A Name.

Goooood question. I would say also an A because of location and lack of a national title.

🦫 The Oregon State Job Report Card

Realignment changed everything here, but good facilities, solid NIL and a winnable new Pac-12 bring upside.

Brent Vigen, Tim Plough and other coaching names to watch...

James Franklin's buyout will be around $50 million. His contract was fully guaranteed.

That will be the second-highest CFB buyout ever, behind the $77 million Texas A&M is paying Jimbo Fisher.

Jake Dickert is doing a really good job at Wake Forest, now 4-2 and should be 5-1 if not for the GT offsides miss. That team has played hard all season and is clearly improving.

Sunday Thoughts: The Big Ten suddenly looks quite deep.

OSU and Indiana are really good. Oregon's up there. USC looks pretty good. Washington, Michigan and Illinois are solid. Nebraska and Iowa have stabilized. UCLA is suddenly a tough out.

Arizona drops a TD in the end zone and BYU wins in 2OT to move to 6-0.

USC rushing for 7 yards per carry against Michigan is not how I expected that going. What a performance.

✍️ Oklahoma couldn't take advantage of a wounded Texas and now the gauntlet is coming up.

Brent Venables said this was an out-of-character performance. I'm not so sure. But we're about to find out.

Story from the Cotton Bowl: www.nytimes.com/athletic/670...
After another loss to Texas, Oklahoma and Brent Venables’ troubles could just be beginning
Oklahoma travels next week to South Carolina and then plays five teams that entered Saturday ranked in the top 15.

Indiana has a really strong case to be ranked No. 1 in the country tomorrow, and I'm serious.

The best win of anyone in the country, and they pounded Illinois by a lot more than Ohio State did.
chrisvannini.com
Oklahoma has failed to score a TD against Texas in three of the last four years.

Gonna be a wild, wild coaching carousel season...
