The updated COVID/histamine link thread because people keep tagging me in to explain it and I keep intending to update the post from 2023 (synecdochic.dreamwidth.org/805203.html) and just not having the capacity because of my own health shit so here is a thread I can pin

Or, like, folks could just configure their email to send them notifications of new emails

hilariously almost everything I've learned came well after I left the church because I enjoyed winning arguments and now I use it to hiss imprecations at JD Vance

Not many still have that kind of available parishioners on tap anymore

That's a lucky chapel! If they're open 24/7 they basically need like 300 people a week to take an hour babysitting Jesus

I saw someone saying they should enlist any Catholic ICE agents' grandmas for the guilt and I was like, no, man, go for the nuns

You're on your own for them fancy law type citations, lol

It's just wild to me there are people who are walking around right now like "yeah, the Pope was my high school physics teacher"

It is such a beautifully designed series of observances. The Liturgy of the Passion starting in silence with the priest prostrating before the altar and ending in silence with everything but the candle and the cross being removed from the altar is just such an incredible transition ritual!

I mean, God moves in mysterious ways and who's to say that series of unfortunate events that befell you after weren't related...

If a priest is traveling somewhere there isn't access to a sacred place to celebrate the Eucharist, they can basically carry an altar in a box that can be set up anywhere suitable -- here are some examples: stpatricksguild.com/travel-litur...

§2. "The eucharistic sacrifice must be carried out on a dedicated or blessed altar; outside a sacred place a suitable table can be used, always with a cloth and a corporal." Priests are required to celebrate the Eucharist once a day whenever even remotely possible.

A priest can consecrate the host outside of a church! Can. 932 §1: "The eucharistic celebration is to be carried out in a sacred place unless in a particular case necessity requires otherwise; in such a case the celebration must be done in a decent place."

This was an absolutely genius action. Thank you for organizing it!

Hey, sorry you ran into an asshole. May your mother's soul and the soul of all the faithful departed rest in peace

I am more and more encouraged with everything I see from Leo
rahaeli.bsky.social
Yeah see I read that as the kind of statement you put out when the meeting went EXTRA badly and you need to kiss ass REALLY fast and pretend everything went great but you can't resist trying to pressure your boss to side with you anyway, heh
rahaeli.bsky.social
How do they DO it
rahaeli.bsky.social
Slimy, opportunistic weasel who's so bad at church politics he was the last man standing when all the smarter bishops realized that Francis really meant it and would in fact take more drastic action against the USCCB and they should make sure someone else was In Charge for a while

Here's my thread with some context, which reposts someone sharing the priest's statement: bsky.app/profile/raha...

It's always good to see priests who still remember there are *seven* Catholic social principles. Also, that noise you hear is the USCCB screeching to the Vatican and getting back nothing, lol

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”
rahaeli.bsky.social
Yes!! "At least let us bring Jesus into the presence of your victims so they may be encouraged!" "lol nope"
