The updated COVID/histamine link thread because people keep tagging me in to explain it and I keep intending to update the post from 2023 (synecdochic.dreamwidth.org/805203.html) and just not having the capacity because of my own health shit so here is a thread I can pin

Verdict: at ~35 hours now, and only some isolated bursts of itching as opposed to "dear God make it stop". We'll see what tomorrow brings when I change it and the reaction starts to develop more after removal!
If I can get even 36 itch-free hours out of 72 per patch, it will be a massive improvement. If I can get it down to "only can't reuse that application site for two weeks" I will rejoice.

1. There is no question mark in my post.
2. I know exactly what caused it.
3. It would be extremely difficult for it to be caused by my gallbladder that was surgically removed in 2001.
4. You mean "HIDA", not HYDA.
If under right ribcage to bottom 2 or 3 ribs, likely gallbladder.
Unless just muscle strain. Sharp shooting pain... place two fingers at site and press upward, under ribs. If shooting pain persists. Go to ER. Or wait see gastroenterologist. Ask for HYDA scan. Old technique but cheap & on the money.

I am currently lying in bed with heat on one bit of me, ice on another, and electricity zapping a third. If you count the cotton in my compression socks as "earth" I am covering the elemental range

I suspect it may be one of those "no breaks greater than 4 hours" label of shame tomorrow days

Update: Ten days after application and a full 7 days after removal, the "placed where I could see it better" scopolamine test site continues to impress!

I deeply resent the fact that at least one of my current embodiment fuckeries a) responds to TENS therapy b) but only when the TENS is actually active

oh look the EU is EUing again
I'm pretty sure the CJEU in Russmedia just casually dismantled 80% of the DSA with one ill-considered judgment. As I read it, it substitutes in GDPR rules -- not notice and takedown rules -- for any platform where a user is likely to post content about people. 1/

All praise my wife and all praise the amazing services of Wegmans pharmacy: she's home from work today because of a migraine but had to get prescriptions before they got re-shelved, so she took my scopolamine patches and a few photos of what my skin is doing with her

You want a video of the bath mat purring loudly, right? Right. Sound up for a very good bath mat.

The "less of an allergic reaction" is still a really fucking bad allergic reaction because I am apparently sensitized enough now that my skin will hate EVERYTHING. Also did not get to the pharmacy to complain about the bad batch because I was in too much pain, sigh.
In the meantime I at least have a single patch from the older batch that actually sticks to my skin and causes less of an allergic reaction so I won't spend all tomorrow throwing up again

I need to start a "reasons my cat is mad at me today" blog or something, lol. Reason my cat is mad at me today: was using TENS in bed and therefore lying down weirdly

For desktop? Mac OSX public beta, 2000. ;) (Yes, I know it's actually NeXT + FreeBSD, I'm just being a shit.)

For server... I honestly can't remember! I preferred FreeBSD for a long time. I think my first FreeBSD install I was *solely* responsible for was 1998. Guessing my first Linux was Debian.
28 years ago, I learned about this amazing thing called Linux.

I immediately drove down to Best Buy and bought a boxed set of Red Hat 5.0. Probably the best $50 I've ever spent!

What was your first Linux distro?

I have been corrected: the piss terrorism happened at a prior moment, Sarah merely *discovered* it after she'd gotten comfortable
Followup: they left Thursday, the piss terrorism was on a four day delay, and it involved pissing in the bed WHILE SARAH WAS SLEEPING IN IT
The nieces are staying over for two nights and the piss terrorist cat has already hissed at them. Now taking bets on how much piss terrorism there will be when she realizes they're staying in Sarah's usual bedroom

Arrrghhhhhh. This month's box of scopolamine patches: first one fell off immediately, second one fell off 2 days into a 3 day period, third one just fell off 1.5 days into a 3 day period. Back to the pharmacy they go, and I will ask for a different manufacturer in case I tolerate the adhesive better
