11/ Christian Nationalism, at its core, has nothing to do with "promoting" Christ or a Christic ideal. It is, instead, an ideology built on the glorification of self ... one which capriciously uses Christ as the qualifier for one's personal supremacy.

Reject it.

The MAGA Christen/Christian Nationalist world doesn’t grasp that because they speak from a self-inflated view that is in direct opposition to Christ’s lived example and words. They seem themselves as something above and apart from the rest of humanity.

9/ It demands we welcome the stranger, lift up the bound, and free the oppressed … not as benevolent saviors but as fellow humans equally bound, oppressed, and stranger. We do not lift others up to our level, but to Christ’s.

8/ Christ literally points us towards an inevitable Kingdom in which all sit at His table, beside him. Man, woman, gentile, Jew, free, or slave … with no distinction between them. And … He commanded us to live that in demonstration. The Cross is the great equalizer.

7/ The inherent and self-damning foundational flaw with ideologies like those is that they are man-made and reflect only man’s fallen nature. The nature of God, among so many other things, is one of agency, liberty, and equality.

6/ When one realizes the full import of the coming Kingdom, what it will look like, and our own explicit Christ-mandated mission to point to it and *fully* demonstrate it (even in our human imperfection) … one MUST reject Christian Nationalism, ethnocentrism, comp Theo, etc.

5/ Their idea of the coming Kingdom is one in which THEY are kings, ruling fiefdoms under a distant overlord. They do not grasp that Christ’s coming kingdom will upend all of man’s concepts of governance and societal stratification.

4/ Why do they do this? Well, for many its rank ignorance. For others, its imperfect tradition or theological poverty. For the majority of that particular eco-system, however, it’s simple genteel racism, cultural ethnocentrism, or white nationalism.

3/ They believe for instance that they, via Caesar, should define, mandate, and control sex and being … at the same time they ignore the literal example of the upper room and God’s word in Gal 3 on the erasure of border, class, and artificial gender shackles.

2/ They insist on holding the reins of govt in order to mandate mores or works, to mimic what they think the coming Kingdom will be … but cherry-pick which parts of the Kingdom to mimic. They ignore Christ's own example and replace it one more akin to Constantine or Charlemagne.

1/ One of the most fascinating self-contradictions found in the MAGA Christen/Christian Nationalist ecosystem is their intentionally uneven pursuit of the coming Kingdom of Christ, and their lack of lived example demonstrating what it will look like.

I love when people like you drop these kinds of comments. I've been a member of the GOP since Reagan. Jockey a pulpit in a very conservative denom. Teach at a hyper-conservative sem.

Some of us just don't compromise our faith for culture war or politics.

My father is edging close to the century mark, with all the normal flubs and slowdowns of age ... and STILL sounds at least 9,000 times more coherent than Trump did in that clip.

We're governed by a leader who has a rabid squirrel in his head instead of a brain.

8/ People like Feucht or Wallnau or Wilson or Wolfe or Daws or Basham who easily and capriciously dehumanize fellow Christians by calling them "demons" ... are easily capable of committing homicide in the name of God. Human nature is, after all, consistent.
