I've known Dara for a long time. This is a beautiful account of what it means to be a parent right now, when ICE is everywhere and you want your kids to be fighters and safe simultaneously.
So happy this is resonating:

My teenager and I were one block from the intersection where Renee Good was shot in the face, an hour before it happened. What happens when you love that your kid wants to fight for her community, but you’re also desperate to keep her safe? trib.al/R8akYV2

Mischief Toy Store in St. Paul has until Wednesday to turn over employment records to the Department of Homeland Security as part of a surprise audit launched Friday, just hours after one of the shop's owners criticized ICE agents during a television interview. bit.ly/4r5AFol

100 rainbow whistles. About 5 hours, here in a few seconds. I do this three times a day now.

Always zero dollars.
People are constantly emailing us asking us how much whistles cost. It will always be $0. We send out 100 for $0. We send out 1000 for $0. Folks donating filament & shipping cash will let us keep doing that for as long as we need to, I hope! 💓

79,280 in the past 20 days & counting.

Hey folks! Just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has sent spools of filament to the printers over the past few days. Your notes are being shared in the group and making people misty eyed and hopeful. (Sometimes literally, thank you Hope.)

yes this for sure
I think the thing that will prevent a restoration of “normalcy” even when/if Trump & MAGA are in the rearview mirror is literally how many of our key institutions *treat* this era as normal.

Media, markets and yes, much of the opposition party are just not reacting like this is a fascist takeover.

One of the first things anyone learns about facial recognition is that it is often wrong and that it is biased. And yet ICE is using it all day every day to determine legal status & who to detain. And now we have a high-profile example of it being flat out wrong:

ICE’s Facial Recognition App Misidentified a Woman. Twice
In testimony from a CBP official obtained by 404 Media, the official described how Mobile Fortify returned two different names after scanning a woman's face during an immigration raid. ICE has said th...

One of the best ways I know to sort Gen Xers/old Millennials into levels of trustworthiness is to take note of which beloved 80s/90s comic strip they never shut up about. Calvin & Hobbes? That's a good-hearted normie. Far Side? Probably annoying, plays hours of RPGs. Bloom County? Fully radicalized.

Running 100 cute rainbow whistles heading to Maine. Fuck ICE.
January 19, 2026 at 4:19 AM
100% this.
i was talking with someone in the twin cities about how it’s not even accurate to call them protesters. they’re literally just people protecting their city from TERRORISTS.
Every time the Trump regime uses the words "funded protesters" and "outside agitators" news outlets need to cut to this photo from last week.

ICE has invaded these communities. Outside agitators don't show up in their fucking bathrobes.
