I guess I'm on here now as well, if only just to stake my claim.
Will I use this for actual posting?
Probably not, if I'm honest.

Still.
I'm here now too.
For given values of "here".

this was such an uphill battle for us, too. it's not "the union" it is a YOU-nion. YOU are the union when you're in one. and the hard work of making the union effective is organizing and rallying people to your cause so that you can wield your collective power effectively.
"the union is a third party, let's resolve our issues directly" is a common management anti-union talking point, but I think pro-union folks also too often think of "the union" as a separate entity that can solve their problems for them, instead of a vehicle for members to create change themselves.
I think we need to change the way we talk about SAG-AFTRA. Not a dig at Jeff here (I too would like to see a SAG-AFTRA Amazon Agreement,) but we've got to stop referring to SAG-AFTRA as an organization that can just "step in" and do stuff.

remarkable how tech companies claim they are building AGI in their backyard but Google drive spell check still chokes on simple English inflected verbs like "sates" or "hid".

I wrote this joke article about Ian Bogost's idiotic takes on game narrative *eight years ago*, there's absolutely no point in relitigating this nonsense. He's just a stupid old man playing the same stupid old song.

Staff turnover is definitive evidence of bad management. This simple fact gets lost when wall street rewards C-suite for juicing quarterly reports with hiring/firing cycles.

"Can video games tell stories better than books" idk man, is a cream puff more numinous than a pair of jorts? Does the sky have more of the Buddha-nature than a rubbermaid container full of loose hdmi cables? Try an argument that's even remotely a thing.

something something more like boo!ghost because you never expect these takes to suddenly pop up on your timeline and they're always a jumpscare?

idk, I'm tired.

The specific example he gives in here is so funny. Like, couldn't have picked a more self defeating example than photoshop, the piece of software where its users are extremely vocal about literally preferring the version from a decade ago lmao

Games are such a funny medium to generalize about because like, games is an absurdly broad umbrella that we've decided is one medium even though you can easily come up with two examples of a "video game" that are more unlike each other than any two movies or novels

I reckon if you're going to do a sports series based on a person, the game should age up alongside that person so if you're still at it twenty years later it has a backpain meter or something.

People need to boycott this show and not just half ass. Shame everyone who plans on watching it. This isn't about Eurovision, it's about Israel getting away with committing genocide because THERE ARE NEVER ANY CONSEQUENCES. They should be untouchable by now. Everybody needs to walk the fucking walk.
Eurovision has allowed Israel to compete in 2026.

Ireland, Spain, Slovenia, and the Netherlands have pulled out of the competition following the decision.
