I appreciate how many people out here are trying to point the spotlight!

Even if a site only covers indies and has a dedicated following, it can feel like shouting into the void.

I think I either need about a week to stew on The Chair Company finale or someone very smart to explain it to me but I'm also not unhappy about my own utter bafflement

Back in the glorious old days, we had magazines. And the front cover would have a popular game on it. People would buy the mag for that, and then hear about all sorts of other stuff the journalists think you should know about. The mags were paid for by the readers... it was a solid model
yeah the harsh reality is that we do take a chance on small games no one's heard of a lot more often than anyone thinks we do. but literally no one reads the articles, which then reinforces to the powers that be that they're not worth doing. I don't know how to solve that problem!
I've been doing this all year but indie journalists have the same issues as indie games. Unless it's a big name, nobody cares.

on top of everything else wrong with this, who gives a shit if kids take extra time to finish tests??? like seriously, who is that hurting?
Even by the standards of The Atlantic, this is an extraordinarily weak evidence base for an article.

Data from a tiny handful of schools that isn't measuring the variable at issue and a few thin, secondhand anecdotes.

Casual sexual harassment of women and femmes is so common that it’s often difficult to convince people that it even is harassment
Incredibly weird behavior from a man who has previously sexually harassed me. AI makes it even easier to spread low-effort misogyny, so I'm not surprised the online right is using it so much that it's melting their brains.

Exhausting, but expected.

man, I was sort of hoping Metroid Prime 4 would be a good place for me to Get Into Metroid Prime but every single review I've read so far has convinced me it's not. sounds like a game with no clear identity.

I have nothing against you or your regional culture but there is an unbreakable spiritual bond between anyone who has ever had to scrape ice off a windshield while hungover
the annual snowfall required for me to take your city seriously is like 11” minimum. nobody is using 300 days of sun to serve the lord

To the porch pirates who stole my shit over Thanksgiving, I hope you enjoy your low carb noodles and the planner and pens my friend helped me pick out and sent to me. It was for therapy, but w/e. Absolutely worthless to you but it meant something to me and it's not really replaceable. Get fucked.

My dad had many issues and his situation was quite complex, but I do believe if this country had functional social support systems for the ill and elderly, he would not have died miserable and alone this year.

I cant tell you how much stuff like this means to me. I know how IGN is perceived by a lot of people, and like this person says, how easy it is to say "IGN bad,"

But mannnnn, I really have been working my butt off to be a better, more knowledgeable person in the FGC
