For @aftermath.site, I spoke to @imodrew.bsky.social, the Sucker Punch dev fired after making a Charlie Kirk joke.

She paints a picture of an industry that all too often ignores bad actors until those bad actors threaten them financially.

Heated Rivalry drives me crazy because in a just world we’d have Ilya and Shane but in the real world we have the Tkachuk brothers spewing bile at a 7th grade reading level and Tony Deangelo still playing hockey and Carter Hart allowed to show his face

So fun to edit Harper for the first time!! What a piece!
My final(?) bit of writing for the year and in an interesting twist of fate it's at Kotaku! I reviewed Octopath Traveler 0.

I truly loved this game and it gave me a great deal to this about re: earnest story-telling and giving oneself permission *to love* something.

Mild jump scare realizing yesterday was three years since I accepted the job at Kotaku. G/O originally didn’t want to hire me because I would be recovering from surgery and they wouldn’t let me start remote. So I uprooted my life while fucked up on pain meds.

Then I outlived G/O. Fuck ‘em.

Incredibly weird behavior from a man who has previously sexually harassed me. AI makes it even easier to spread low-effort misogyny, so I'm not surprised the online right is using it so much that it's melting their brains.

Exhausting, but expected.
