asked a republic about this after they complained about the post office losing money and he said the difference is the military doesn't charge for stamps, that instant pivot to it would be better if it was not able to cover such a meaningful portion of its costs by who uses it most led me to give up

a side effect of any company buying another is the company got bought specifically because of something it was doing better than the buying company but before long the buying company ruins it by slowly then rapidly making it work like the buying company did, which couldn't do what the bought one did

I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.

I'm genuinely concerned this is precisely the sort of thing that people might increasingly turn to AI to handle for them, but it is absolutely incapable of ever outputting a list of names so mind shattering that we'd still be talking about them 31 years later

also I'm dwigt rortugal
Sometimes I think about the American names a Japanese developer came up with for Fighting Baseball on the SNES.

like when people built casinos on riverboats that didn't move to get around state gambling laws but the river is just the internet
So, here’s a bolted-shut glass enclosed room in the back corner of a casino in Atlantic City where people are playing live casino slots from their own homes. Did we know this was happening?

my javascript take is that people who hate the programming language mostly stopped following it around 2005 when they saw something like this on a website and didn't keep up with how in addition to becoming central to most of the internet it also kept web games alive for a decade after we lost flash

good article though unfortunately the game industry is largely controlled by people who are unfamiliar with the history movies, theater, literature, or basically any art form that does not have stats
Despite the controversy, Horses is only shocking if you're unfamiliar with the history movies, theater, literature, or basically any art form that does not have stats. aftermath.site/horses-indie-g...

Horses, the indie game that is too scandalous for either Valve or Epic, is only beyond the pale if you're not familiar with any other art form.

A thing I love about Stranger Things is a sort of... ambiguity that the analogue 80s creates. You couldn't set it in another time; the crackle of TV static, radios & electricity is crucial. The tension between known & unknown.
