ugh could this disrupt cushy jobs of a relatively small number of people who mostly burned out decades ago and gave up to coast on getting insider trading tips and being treated as a VIP social class for doing absolutely nothing that'd be unfortunate
The framing of this is hilarious: Democrats deeply worried about the repercussions of a victory

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.
certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

oop, important update, it appears they have solved the issue be declaring it is not a crime when they do it
🚨Be prepared for ICE to pull out a loaded firearm and point it at you for any given reason at any given time. The government of the USA in 2025 has declared war on citizens. Grateful the police sent ICE away - for now. 1/2

also true, especially past entry level, where someone other people have to put up with (a) weren't learning from what other people know (b) weren't growing from feedback (c) in practical effect aren't useful for a team, because they're limited by what one person can do alone like a stunt to show off
Those who believe "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" usually overestimate both what people will put up with, and their skill at math.
I've spent 20 years helping new engineers start careers, tip from a top recruiter: there's never any shortage of people who can write code that works (or do the art needed, etc), her challenge is finding people who can do that AND anyone wants to work with, friendly, communicate, take feedback

unless they're doing the equivalent of working on the manhattan project people underestimate how many other people are very capable of doing the work. one of a few people at your high school that great at math? cool! guess how many high schools there are, graduating people every year into the world.
