Test Time Training is an approach that gives LLMs a kind of state/memory, described in this thread (#1):

I'm disgusted by the fact that Democrats use Citizens United as a fig leaf to not care about campaign finance reform.

Citizens United totally allows regulation of *coordinated* campaign spending. Congress could go to town on SuperPACs if it wanted.

But Dem leaders don't want that.

I can no longer follow the plot of this show. I suspect the writers and actors can’t either. I don’t think they have a show runner.

I cannot overemphasize that Marjorie Taylor Greene, Carlson, and Fuentes see a 2028 path to victory that involves building an isolationist populist coalition that traffics heavily in antisemitism and exploits existing negative sentiment against Israel.

We have to be SHARP on the left right now.

Many things are minimizing the potential harm of this moment.

Federal district judges of all stripes holding the line is one.

The absolute incompetence of the Trump Admin is def another.

Populism’s disdain for expertise is losing badly to a legal system that demands it.

This is my interpretation of the polls that suggested that voters viewed Kamala Harris was too left-wing.
a take which I thought was too basic to write up but I clearly should have written up lol was that one underrated success of the 2024 Trump campaign was to manage to make it *look* like the Kamala campaign was back-to-back culture wars, they did a very good job on that front!
Pundits: Why didn't Kamala Harris run on kitchen table issues?

I don’t think that’s true either — Biden was a centrist and the 2018 midterms were a combo of centrist and progressive candidates. The swings against the incumbent party tend to explain more than ideology imo

There are reasons to believe that 2028 could be a blowout election, but if that does come to pass, than the moderation argument fails to matter at all, and any left-wing ideology that isn't completely batshit insane can win an election.
unserious to promise that messaging can deliver a blowout election

I suppose there's a possible theory where individual elected officials, say, are very concerned with winning *their* elections, but not dedicated to the enterprise of achieving enduring Good Political Thingies?

The premise “people who have dedicated their entire lives to electoral politics are simply not trying to win” is widely and frequently assumed on this website, and at the very least I think you’d need to develop some theory explaining why that is a reasonable assumption
this is the post that drove me insane and has me considering tossing myself out the nearest window

I actually think you could say that the centrist-consultant campaign helped Harris win, but not by enough to defeat Trump, and the issue here is that they genuinely believe that political campaigns can't lose if they adopt their preferred policies/speech.

Sometimes the environment just sucks.
the 2024 election was between "yes i'm lying about haitians eating cats but it gets to a real issue" and the most centrist-consultant-run campaign yet; how'd that blowout go

From personal experience I do not think being terminally online necessarily causes this but it does reinforce bad patterns and practices of thinking. None of the people who believe this ever seem to run their ideas to the extreme implications and breaking points. Absolutely zero introspection.

we need publicly funded journalism so bad. shame that, uh, *gestures widely*
It looks like “news shouldn’t have paywalls“ discourse is starting again.

-Banner ads don’t cover costs, and you block them
-Native ads are coercive
-Billionaires buying papers backfired
-Event driven funding doesn’t scale
-Newsletters are narrow and lack accountability infrastructure

i understand the prosecutor's concern but no retaliation means this will happen again
Trump will not just be four years of bad management. The culture of these organizations will be fucked for a long time. The pressure to retaliate and clean house will be strong, and no-one wants to work in a war zone.

pretty clear a big part of the mainstream media-led backlash to #metoo is the number of people in media who take advantage of and abuse others.

they made it seem like it's about fairness, but they just didn't want to face any real consequences for their behavior.
So if Olivia is 32 now, broke up with Lizza last year, was together with him for a decade, and then was living with you for 4+ years before that, how old was she when you moved her out of her (presumably parents’) house in the suburbs to live with you?
Btw about this from Lizza's reply: Olivia and I lived together for 4+ years (4 b'days, 4 Xmases, 4 anniversaries). That's like $1250 of jewelry per celebration. And her apartment was a writing studio. And I made an f-ton then. What was I supposed to do? Get her a lot of Gift Certificates from Kmart?

In cleaning up the mess of the Trump regime, we should look to leverage existing political actors' resentments to the agenda of constitutional restoration. We have ample evidence at present that the sub-SCOTUS federal judiciary is fucking livid. Give them the power to clean house & I bet they would.
One way to deal with Trump judges like Bove without visibly blowing up the constitutional order is to enhance the power of the federal Judicial Conference & Judicial Councils, & tweak their composition to lessen the Chief Justice's authority, and allow them to exercise a version of this power.
