i didn't think it was possible, in my lifetime, to have another "operative posing as a journalist" scandal with a death count possibly passing judith miller's, but here we are
this was bad before, but these are the most troubling and serious allegations you can make about a journalist. if they’re true, i genuinely can’t think of a worse scandal in the history of political journalism. devastating to our industry, to public trust as a whole, and to everyone in its orbit

I think it's possible it will be revealed that Lizza is exaggerating or making up a lot of these accusation now out of spite and ends up eating shit and i want to make it clear that would also be very good and funny

i think publishing the awful conversations was unethical and beyond the bounds of journalism, but there's also a part of me that thinks if THAT, not the other stuff, is what it takes to embarrass conde nast and the journalism industry out of employing her, that's kinda on them

but this is why "it didn't matter" isn't convincing to me. if russian propaganda operations only reach 1000 people, but that 1000 includes joe rogan, peter thiel, the WaPo editorial board, and a bunch of senate staffers; well...
Fitting, since the circa 2016 Russian Facebook activity got orders of magnitude more traction in the Discourse than it did among regular people.
I'm deeply skeptical of mainstream disinformation discourse, and it's pretty clear that most of the foreign X accounts are just engagment farming. But to the extent they're politically important, it's to X's gathered elites, not the masses nymag.com/intelligence...

i would like 3-4 2-cup Rubbermaid containers. Unfortunately they're always having a sale on 26-piece sets, making that cheaper than 3-4 2-cup containers. I will not buy the set because i don't want that many fuckin containers, but it prevents me from buying 2-cup containers because i feel ripped off
