They have 100% always been this way, though notably the transition from helicopter rides and referencing crushing minorities abroad humorlessly transitioned to nazi shit, but like that's basically a new layer of paint instead of a new perspective.

For those tempted to say Young Republicans have always been this way, they really have not. When I worked on campus and did bipartisan college events after, they were very much not like this.
That's why groups like YCT and eventually TPUSA formed -because Young Republicans weren't radical enough.

is there a better term than "backlash" for the way a movement ebbs and wanes? it's not exactly WRONG, but the fight against civil rights has been unbroken and continuous. like i think technically it's more about the success of affirmative action giving them a burst of URGENCY, rather than motivation

I think the pattern i've seen from her over and over since the 2020 primaries is that she personally has decency but her political instincts are absolutely atrocious and she's always asking "what would a consultant say" which may be even worse than an indecent politician who can be pushed to decency
