This is very interesting (and yeah, I also had an initial “oh come on, that’s nuts” reaction to the first part of this article, but as I read on, I realized he was making some pretty compelling points)
This is an insightful but deeply upsetting article about why everyone in the US feels poor, and why the current political situation emerges as a direct result.

If you make a big form to collect data, you absolutely need to include at least one opportunity for the end users to report if the form is broken. Questions get broken, links die, things get weird. These impact the data you collect immensely, and you need an opportunity to find out if it's happening

The consent manufacturing machine, having worked so well its owners cashed out and were replaced by venture capital who never bothered to read the instructions or do any maintenance, isn't really going "brr" as much as it's making the noise a dead starter makes, but they proceed nonetheless

A sad day for cyclists. Bill 60 - which prohibits the conversion of motor vehicle lanes to bike lanes (or any other prescribed purpose) - has passed Third Reading this morning which will kill various cycling projects in Toronto & across Ontario. #shame #BikeTO #BikeSky #TOpoli #ONpoli #VisionZero

In response to the recent boiler explosion and chimney collapse at a Bronx public housing development, an association representing licensed plumbers is calling for an emergency inspection sweep of all New York City Housing Authority boilers to be conducted by its members.
Plumbers Propose Emergency Inspection of All NYCHA Boilers Post-Explosion
After THE CITY revealed the heating plant that blew up in a public housing building last month had not been inspected in years, the Plumbing Foundation says licensed professionals need to step in.

This Thanksgiving flip the script!

If you are looking to ruffle some feathers at the dinner table, try asking your SUV or Truck driving family member questions like:

Do you tow anything besides ego?
How many laptops can that rig haul?
Do you need a special license or is the little one ok?

I find this completely believable since "Improved" doesn't mean "sufficient".

and even if it's sufficient, the enormous subsidies to driving remain. My bus could come every 5 minutes and yet I'd still be paying for my bus pass while my colleagues who drive are given $200/mo parking passes free

it’s pretty simple: you can either induce demand for things that suck and people hate (traffic), or you can do it for things that are good (bikes, the McRib)
The latest evaluation of bike lane projects in Boston continues to show that if you build bike infrastructure, people will use it.

The key to being seen by drivers is to stand out from distractions preventing the driver from seeing you.
It's called "cognitive conspicuity."
