How did we end up in a world where ICE agents are indistinguishable from the Proud Boys who stormed the Capitol on January 6?

VIGILANTE NATION tells the story of the insidious state laws behind MAGA's return to power, and it's out in paperback today.

Sen. Markwayne Mullin bought up to $50K each in Raytheon stock (RTX) & Chevron (CVX) just days before the U.S. strike on Venezuela—

Mullin sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee — I’m sure it’s just a coincidence..

Common Good Constitutionalism may be batting zero at the Supreme Court, but someone took it seriously.
Judge Kacsmaryk rejects challenge by West Texas A&M University's LGBQT club to drag show ban, saying the First Amendment doesn't protect "self-expression in all forms, and certainly not the libertine 'expressive conduct' absolutism envisioned" by the group. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Not trying to be trollish, but I'll take the under. The odds of this dithering, addled fool keeping an electoral coalition together as he pushes the nation into war, economic crisis, and the most serious federal/state conflict since the Civil Rights Movement don't seem particularly good to me.
Guys, we still have three more years and a day of Trump.

that they are lying should be the default presumption of the press, the courts, and the general public
BREAKING — ChongLy Scott Thao's family has released a statement disputing DHS's outrageous justification for his arrest.

"He does not live with, nor has he ever lived with, the individuals DHS claims were targets of this operation...[the family] does not know the individuals DHS references."

Any one of these daily atrocities should result in a full congressional investigation and a disbanding of the agency. The fact that it’s all just shrugged off by those with the power to stop it is a national disgrace.
ICE ended up returning the man, Saly, after realizing he’s a fucking US citizen with no criminal record, per his sister-in-law. These fucking animals.

Another thing about this is that the administration would be picking a fight with one of, if not the, most effective political communicators in the Democratic Party.
I am not saying Trump def doesn’t invade nyc this term I’m just saying it’s a lot larger than Minneapolis / St. Paul and can you imagine what it would look like in just one borough of New York, if THIS is the civilian response in the twin cities

We made a mistake in assigning domestic law enforcement to a department created to prosecute the global war on terror. The moderate position should be to abolish ICE and assign immigration enforcement to a thoroughly reconstituted, nonpartisan Justice Department.
This isn't a left-right ideological issue. But it blows me away that anyone who is actually anti-Trump would think running back Joe Biden/Merrick Garland 2.0 will work the second time. No political party can tolerate a very large, armed secret police force committed to murdering its voters.

The risk of malfeasance in the November election is real, and serious. But the Trump administration doesn't have a magic wand.

It has tools of repression. And we have tools of resistance.

There you have it; the Trump admin allows ICE lawyer James Rodden to stay on the job. His personal social media account praised Hitler, supported white nationalism, and said that America started going downhill the day that Lincoln was elected.
BREAKING: James Rodden, an ICE prosecutor who the Observer identified last year as the operator of an X account that posted “America is a White nation," “‘Migrants’ are all criminals,” and apparent praise of Adolf Hitler, appeared to be back at work Tuesday.

I think a major part of why Emolument Clause arguments haven't taken off politically is the archaic constitutional terminology. If the Constitution had a Foreign Corruption Clause, it'd be much different.

"Worse than Bush after Katrina" is a polling benchmark that I thought that partisan polarization had made impossible
Pollster: 58% of Americans say Trump's second term has been a failure. A year into term number two, Trump's numbers look worse than any other president. Trump is even worse than George W. Bush after Katrina and a long period in the Iraq War. This is really, really bad.

Excellent article. If you are in Cali, and someone with Uber tries to get you to sign something, don't! Its nasty tort reform is intended to pit people against their lawyers and deny people access to the courts. All that matters to Uber is its profits and not being held accountable.
Commentary: Uber is trying to snow voters with a supposedly pro-consumer ballot initiative. Don't buy it
Uber says its proposed ballot initiative will save consumers money. It's really designed to save Uber money, at its passengers' expense.
