This isn't purity testing or demanding perfection or any of the bullshit you keep trotting out. I am willing to work with all sorts of people against fascism. It would be pretty easy for Newsom to start making amends on this issue (I know there are others, I'm just being focused). It's so telling.
It's not that we hate every single action Newsom is taking. I'd be willing to give Newsom some marginal praise for a (very) few things like some of the reverse trolling and the redistricting stuff, if liberals weren't proclaiming him king and savior of everything for demonstrating 1% of what we need

For generations people “cut off” parents by moving away and mailing them a card once a year. Travel and long distance phone calls were expensive; distance effectively cut people off w/o being so explicit.
The difference now is that communication is cheap so cutting them off requires being explicit.

The narrative is that trans people will harm and harass people in the bathroom, but it almost always is actually like this case where the aggressor is the transphobe confronting the trans person. It's ridiculous. They want to kick "undesirables" out from public life entirely, if they could.

I don’t think it is progressive to force urban homeowners like me who live in fire-safe areas to pay higher home insurance premiums to subsidize people who choose to live in McMansions in places with very high fire risk.
This is what passes for progressivism and climate policy in California. Jane Kim’s answer for elevated fire risk and actuarial risk? Put it on the public dime. Urban renters should bail out well to do exurban property owners and landlords in fire zones. FAIR plan is already a ticking time bomb!

If you want your ACA coverage to be active on January 1, you must’ve enrolled by today. You can enroll up to Jan 15 but then coverage won’t start until February. Meaning they’re asking people to either go without coverage or take a chance on enrolling in a plan they know they can’t afford.
UPDATE: Susan Collins after meeting says goal is to announce a plan, with vote next year to restore expiring subsidies. She said it’s too late to get a bill signed before end of the year.

In GOOD cinema news, The Shining is out on IMAX and it felt like seeing the film for the first time. That opening sequence hit so hard, the sound so immaculate and image so immersive, that I wept. Phenomenal experience, cannot recommend it enough
