I’m reading Rocannon’s World, Ursula K Le Guin’s first novel and damn did she come out swinging. In the prologue, a dark skinned woman from a feudal-era species meets a space-faring civilization. The actual 1st thing that happens is a bunch of white people ask to touch her hair 💀

Sinners wasn't my personal top film of the year (2025 was a banger year for movies IMO) but it's the reason I'll watch the Oscars for the first time in years--I'm legit excited to see the cast do I Lied To You live. Sinners deserves best song, score, and casting (for finding Miles Caton).

tonight a friend dragged me to a tech bro networking event where there was a psychic and I warned my pal it wouldn’t be pretty and sure enough a bunch of people yelled at me and we had to leave and I think I might make a video about it bc it was kind of funny and I’m tired of talking about fascism.

If anyone in the Bay Area is wondering if it's worthwhile to switch from gas furnace to a heat pump (w solar panels), last year our Dec-Jan bill was $146. We wore layers & ran the heat as sparingly as possible. Now, the past month of keeping the house at 72F cost $15. We got $25 back for Nov-Dec.

This is why I opened this video by debunking that talking point. Then a bunch of Europeans tried to tell me in the comments that actually they know MORE about what's going on the US than I do. Very cool, very fun youtu.be/dnVo6FkG94U

Every time a journalists asks one of these victims (knowing the answer is 'no'), "Were you there to protest ICE? Have you ever protested ICE?" I wonder if it lends support to the idea that it would be okay or understandable that protestors should be abused for objecting to the abuse.
THE WOMAN WHO WAS DRAGGED OUT OF HER CAR AND ARRESTED BY ICE SPEAKS OUT…

We’ve all seen the videos, but it matters to hear Aliya Rahman say it herself.

📌 She says her treatment in custody was dehumanizing, and that officers completely failed to take her disability seriously.

There have been a number of high profile shark encounters recently in California & Australia. Several companies are hoping this will scare you into buying magnetic bracelets that supposedly keep sharks away, but the data isn't there 🧪

Why a Magnetic Bracelet Won’t Keep Sharks Away
Transcript: As many of you know if you’ve been watching for long enough, I live in the beautiful Bay Area, and I am something of an outdoorsy person. I mean, I guess you’d know that even if you ski…

We are beyond the point where it’s worth calling out the fascists’ hypocrisy but my god
🚨 SAC!: An ICE van from the John
Moss building strikes a legal observer from the @916eyesonice daily protest, fourty minutes ago.

This same van has been entering and exiting for the last week, using a sunshade to hide, being driven by a person in a hood, dust mask and sunglasses.

This video is getting some new traction today so I'll share a comment I saw that was apparently deleted: a man said that he appreciated this video bc it was a real criticism of Michael Shermer, whereas previously I just had some weird "axe to grind." I hope the deletion means he suddenly realized...
ICYMI: Michael Shermer, the editor of Skeptic Magazine is now openly joining fascist grifters like Tim Pool in blaming Renee Good for her own murder at the hands of ICE. But we outnumber them & have reality on our side skepchick.org/2026/01/the-...

They're hoping this scares people into never criticizing politicians but in fact it only encourages me to word my insults in whatever way I think will be funniest being read aloud by a semiliterate cop to my doorbell camera. "Um, ma'am? Did you post that 'Gavin Newsom gargles Nazi cum, winky face?'"
A woman left a comment on Facebook criticizing the Mayor of Miami Beach,.

The Mayor of Miami Beach then sent the cops to her home.

28 Years Later: Bone Temple rules. Awesome performances from everyone, well-written and poignant, and I can't stress this enough: hella dong. More like the boner temple am I right
Just rewatched 28 Years Later in prep for seeing Bone Temple tomorrow and it just confirmed my initial reaction, which I think might be unpopular? It's great. Maternal/paternal love and empathy and understanding and acceptance of our fate wins over brute violence and delusion and posturing.

It’s 70 and sunny in Oakland today. Ate a taco on the patio at Ghost Town, wandered around, caught up with a friend who happened to be biking past, thanked the anti-ICE protesters on MacArthur, and now Indy and I are sitting in a park & a very attractive man asked me to take fit pics of him.*

Hey I'm in this! TBH I know 9:45 is pretty late but it's gonna be better than the early show because we're allowed to cuss and be naked
Hi, SF. If you'd like to forget for 80-ish minutes about the republic collapsing, come see us and our many much-cooler friends in our Fake TED Talks show at @sfsketchfest.bsky.social tonight. The early show is sold out, but the 9:45 pm show still has seats! sched.co/2BQw0

It’s funny that Joe Rogan is finally useful for something: a barometer to let us know when even the absolute dumbest motherfuckers are about to start getting it
Rogan: "You don't want militarized people in the streets just roaming around, snatching up people — many of which turn out to be U.S. citizens that just don't have their papers on them. Are we really gonna be the Gestapo, 'Where's your papers?' Is that what we've come to?"
