Like 6 years ago a property that I helped manage had these installed. They were completely free, in an industry where nothing is free, so I thought it was suspicious and also dystopian. Like social credit level weird. But I wasn't in any position to refuse them.

We had a literal mass shooting incident after the cameras were installed. One death and a lot shot. I remember our security guard had to stop giving chest compressions to the victim who took 2 rounds to the heart, because every compression like a cup of blood came out of their chest. That shit traumatized me, and him, especially when the victim's parent's showed up. I'll never forget their cries. The coroner took so long, we had to build barricades with black visqueen and wood to hide the body from the public.
These violent crimes have literally only gone up since those cameras were installed, if you're telling me the only thing these cameras have done is reduce porch pirates in exchange for ICE being able to use these cameras without us, the police, or even the city being aware, I'd say it's not worth it.
Also want to note this property already had like 25 cameras, which the police used to identify the perp, so the flock cameras didn't even help catch the guy, as the cameras were in locations the perp never went. permalink source embed save save-RES parent report reply hide child comments
