I wonder how these white American tennis players (and Ben Shelton) view Coco Gauff speaking her truth on questions they treat as mere distractions or gotcha questions

She's 21 and has more backbone than all of them combined

This is essentially what a lot of this wretched discourse is about, acting as if elemental corruption was flowing from Israel, the Nexus of the Bad Jews, to *infect* and *defile* the rest of the pure world.

I need people to internalize that Israel is Just a Country with a Lot of Jews. That's it.
It is not a defense of Israel or of the fascists of ICE to observe that there is no Elemental Evil Essence being transferred through training from Israel to American organizations.

this man could have still been our President if people had just quit whining and supported their team

Real talk: there is no amount of holding out in a shutdown that democrats can do that will cause republicans to end the filibuster for us. It’s just not happening.

I would genuinely like to see an example of one (1) successful political campaign that has as its premise “I suck shit and everything you hate is my fault, please elect me.”
"To do politics correctly, Democrats must begin every form of communication with an acknowledgement of all the ways they ever have and ever will suck shit. They should end any communication by reiterating why it's their fault they haven't already solved it."

This is specific to a certain audience but it’s probably applicable. Social and political change can happen through any number of venues. Voting remains an incredibly powerful, relatively easy one for virtually everyone to participate.

Which Dems voted for OBBB?
The ICE budget is so astronomical you have to imagine they will keep inventing new ways to use it and the mission creep has only begun. The budget will create its own permanent constituency of overreach on its own. Thanks Dems.

The increasingly prevalent "my righteous anger immunizes me from having to engage with any meaningful material reality as long as my rage is directed at Democrats" form of argumentation from big accounts is a form of crybullying, in this essay

Politics is the never ending struggle for a better world, it is the endless obligation to ourselves and all of humanity to repair the world. If you can't fucking hack it, if you believe the good fairy or Karl Marx is gonna come with pixie dust and fix everything forever, shut the fuck up and go sit
We went from Clinton running on a public option and expanded Medicaid to Republicans dismantling the ACA piece by piece all because people can't seem to understand that you need to separate *goals* from *strategies* and *tactics*.

And there is no such thing as winning politics Once And For All.
Abolish ICE is aspirational, and will continue to be until, at earliest, '27. Republicans would probably remove Trump before defunding ICE.

Emotions are understandably high, but it would be wise to keep this in mind.

I really hate this "the lord God Mitch McConnell obstructed everything with his mighty powers"

we posted the ACA which Republicans viewed as the work of the devil, "but but he got rid of the public option" yep, he edited the bill but couldn't stop it, much like Dems are doing now

One thing to keep in mind here: making the demands does not mean getting them. That fucking sucks. But we need to keep in mind what the dynamics of the shutdown are going to be, what the leverage is, who feels what pressure, etc.

From the minority in both chambers, having the asks be targeted like this, and something no reasonable person could object to *and also* something republicans will likely scream their heads off objecting to, is the move IMO.
NEWS from inside the Senate Dem meeting tonight:
1-Schumer has the votes to block the DHS funding bill
2-They're going to ask for real investigations into the murders (including an end to impeding the state/local investigations), an end to masks and arrest quotas.

Woman filming them is not an immigration enforcement action. Man stepping in front of the woman was not an enforcing action. Multiple agents holding him down & punching him is the only reason they ever saw the gun.

They can’t fathom that people hate them for their actions, not DHS messaging.
Bill Melugin of Fox News may be the best-sourced journalist within ICE and CBP. If he's hearing this, the administration has a real problem.

FEMA is funded through DHS approps, OBBB did not front load money into FEMA, so.....toss that into your political messaging calculations here if you're proposing no annual approps for DHS until 2029

This includes personnel funding, so while if you hypothetically played it out until 2029 without giving them any other approps they would eventually run out of money/have to make choices, but they can keep paying ICE and BP for a very long time without FY26 or even 27 DHS appropriations

Minnesota is one of the goddamned stars on our fucking flag. There is no star for ICE, or the cops or the military. Those stars represent the fifty states that make up the goddamned UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The officers need to be reminded that THEY work for US, not the other way around.
This is an actual post from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth: Praising ICE after Alex Pretti was killed, blaming the Democratic leadership of Minnesota, and writing that ICE is greater/better than Minnesota.

He is actively demeaning the people of Minnesota just hours after Pretti was murdered.

Our initial analysis is up.

The video footage appears to show that the gun was taken away from the man before he was shot.

He was UNARMED before any of the shots were fired.
Federal law enforcement agents shot and killed a man in Minneapolis on Jan. 24 according to local police officials. DHS told Fox News that the man was “armed with a gun”. A video of the shooting appears to show that a gun was taken from the man before the first shot was fired. x.com/BillMelugin_...

tell you what need to be done to make it stop....hm....

vote, vote out the Republicans, it ends when they don't have the power to hurt people any more, Democrats are telling you "we will end it if you let us" so give them the power to end it.
I really need Democratic lawmakers to understand that we're fed up with them simply posting on social media "this has to stop" without calling for specific actions to make it stop.

We know this needs to stop. We elected you. Tell us what needs to be done to make it stop.

This martyr could be any of us. He is doing what so many of us have been trained to do. Standing and recording on his phone, trying to warn his neighbors, and now he’s dead because armed, masked federal paramilitaries are acting with impunity to perform ethnic cleansing.
Video before it happens is showing this guy they shot in the head in Minneapolis was just standing there videoing them before and they got out to push him back and then murder him.
