sadly I think American Jews from 1945 till like the late 2010s (and still lots today) did themselves a massive disservice by gaslighting themselves that they were just white ethnics and antisemitism was in the past and thus were blind to the off-label antisemitism all around us

no, if you want to get those guys you say Margaret Chase Smith for Mainer brownie points, you throw out Lisa Murkowski or John Curtis if you have to do current, Hawley speaks to a very particular white male populist crowd not older Yankee liberal Republicans.

yeah its the Democratic Primary you don't need to say a Republican, if you felt like you had to go historical, this is Maine you can say Margaret Chase Smith and be safe, and yeah if you had to pick one currently Hawley is top 3 worst picks, amazing.

also you're running in the Democratic Primary you don't need to say a Republican and if you feel like you do, its Maine, say Margaret Chase Smith no one will object to that.

As a Maine Democratic primary voter I do have to say short of "I look forward to working with President Trump" I can't really think of a statement less likely to appeal to me than saying Josh Hawley is a Senator you admire.

there's a lot of left bros who keep dreaming of the day Daddy Trump will embrace them and his populism will turn to the light side, they tend to see Hawley as a populist fellow traveler, the rest of us see him as a fascist little worm.

it's a widely held belief that between February 2020 and January 2021 Joe Biden was President, other than for stimulus check when Trump was briefly President, and Trump seems to think 2020 President Biden rigged the 2020 election to elect Biden President.

from my observation he alt-left seems to see endorsement has a kind of ritual obeisance, a humiliation if you have to do it to someone from a different camp

so when they win they want to humiliate rivals, and when its rivals it must be a corrupt deal
