Come see the violence inherent in the system.

This is unconscionable. Evil.

But it happened in May 2023, when Biden was president.

So no, we don’t “reform immigration detention,” we destroy ICE, CBP, and DHS. We can’t reform this soul sickness.
Anadith Danay Reyes Álvarez died in government custody.

She had sickle cell and congenital heart disease but couldn’t access timely and adequate medical care.

We need to reform immigration detention.

While it's true that Donald Trump has 13 nipples, it is inaccurate to say that he has "13 nipples, like a possum" as not all possums have 13 nipples, and Trump's nipples are not arranged in a circle.

Kind of amazing how the official response to 9/11 was to ask "how can we make everything worse?"
The aggregation of 22 separate federal agencies, most of which had nothing to do with each other, into DHS was the second most corrosive post-9/11 action taken (after the passing of the PATRIOT Act) and I will die on that hill
Amid growing calls for the abolition of ICE, Rep. Delia Ramirez is calling for the entire DHS to be dismantled. Highlighting how much experience the officers who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti had, Ramirez said, “DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity.”

This just in from reliable, fact-based CBS News: one quarter of all living humans are journalists, and it is imperative that each and every one of them be defeated.
Here, in three posts, are the written remarks by Bari Weiss at today's CBS News town hall meeting. Part one of three:

Firing a few key faces at the top while maintaining the the fundamental system is one of the most common appeasement tactics in history.

Don't settle for Bovino. Don't settle for Noem. Don't settle for Miller.

ICE must be abolished. That is the bare minimum.

Inaccurate headline, this is how many were found in recent sting operations. Can easily guarantee the total number is much, much higher, and I personally suspect that the median ICE agent is a rapist.

A Republican-led Utah audit of over 2 million voter registrations found only one noncitizen, who never voted.

The results undercut the right-wing narrative of widespread noncitizen voting, especially as Republicans renew their push for a proof-of-citizenship requirement in voter registration.
Utah reviewed its voter rolls for noncitizens. It found one. Who never voted
The results sharply undercut the narrative of widespread noncitizen voting Republicans are using to promote new nationwide restrictions on voting.

Seriously though:

No one should come from overseas to go to the World Cup.

We're living under a racist, fascist, lawless regime and it's not safe.
"Casa México sends a powerful message: our international neighbors are welcome," said Mayor Karen Bass at the announcement of LA's first World Cup hospitality house.

Are we sure about that?
No one will feel at home here
Really, can we even call them hospitality houses?

Bovino’s retirement needs to be a cage. His command environment yielded Renee Good’s death, Alex Pretti’s death & Julio Sosa-Celis’ shooting. Failure to prosecute Bovino & everyone else materially responsible for these atrocities will be understood by ICE, CBP, etc as a green light for the next ones

ICE murdered Renée Good in broad daylight. Less than 3 weeks later, they killed Alex Pretti, shooting him 10 times. Every day, we watch as people are ripped from their cars, their homes, their lives.

We can't allow ourselves to look away from this cruelty. Abolish ICE.
