When police accuse protesters of being "professional agitators," remember—

Police are unscrupulous mercenaries who assault anyone they are ordered to in return for a paycheck.

Protesters who stand up to police are doing so for free, at tremendous risk to themselves, as a service to the public.
St. Paul police brutally assault locals defending their neighbors from ICE, then absurdly accuse the locals of being "professional agitators."

"We are not your adversary. We are your police."

They support ICE with violence, just as they murder with impunity. They are, in fact, our adversaries.

On this day 26 years ago, demonstrators blockaded and shut down the summit of the World Trade Organization in Seattle—demonstrating the power of direct action and horizontal, decentralized organizing.

Today, as federal mercenaries attack our communities, we need this reference point more than ever.
Epilogue on the Movement against Capitalist Globalization
22 years after the victory against the World Trade Organization in Seattle, what can we learn from the networks that gave rise to that movement?

Those who stood up to ICE in New York today are heroes. Who knows how many people's lives they protected.

As in Chicago, NYPD took the side of the federal mercenaries, brutalizing all who confronted them.

If you oppose ICE, the police are your adversary, as well.

This Aimé Césaire quotation is relevant again today.

In recognition of the Day of Mourning the United American Indians declared on this day in 1970—in hopes of offering important context to colonial mythology about early Thanksgivings—we offer the story of Metacomet’s War:

"No one colonizes innocently, no one colonizes with impunity either; a nation which colonizes, a civilization which justifies colonization and therefore force, is already a sick civilization, a civilization which is morally diseased."

—Aimé Césaire, Discourse on Colonialism
Since the declaration of the supposed ceasefire, the Israeli military has violated it an average of ten or more times a day, murdering hundreds of Palestinians, including scores of small children.

There is no peace in Gaza, nor in the West Bank. As the genocide continues, so must our resistance.

US Citizenship and Immigration Services is indefinitely halting all immigration requests involving Afghan refugees.

They are pretending that they are doing this in response to today's shooting in DC—but in fact, they ordered this *before* the shooting.

They create crises, then capitalize on them.
The folks at @afghanevac.bsky.social have in hand a new USCIS directive which largely targets Afghan refugees who fled the Taliban in the wake of the U.S. withdrawal in 2021.

In case you needed a reminder that the most loathsome people in the world work for DHS.

On the heels of the raid in St. Paul, Minnesota a week ago, ICE mercenaries are carrying out another assault on that community right now.

It's heartening to see people showing up to stand up to them. Build rapid response networks and community defense groups. Resist.

Masked mercenaries are only able to kidnap people off our streets at random today because Democrats refused to defund ICE when they had the chance.

The same goes for the epidemic of police violence.

The movement against ICE should revitalize anti-police organizing.

Abolishing ICE is only the beginning. Have you looked at your local cops?

..

According to mappingpoliceviolence.us, police kill at least three people per day; from a meta analysis published in NYT, we now know the number could be six or even more.

Here, participants reflect on this strategy, evaluating it alongside other strategies such as rapid response networks and showing how Democratic politicians have been instrumental in supporting ICE.
